Technique Classes Project Classes

Magic Loop Technique with Darlene Joyce Choose a sock or a mitten pattern and learn how to use

the magic loop technique to cast on and work in the round. Please pick yarn and needles that is appropriate for the pattern. Suggested patterns are Mosaic’s Basic Sock pattern & Waiting for Winter Mittens.

Wed. May 10 1:30-3:30 p.m. Fee: $32 2 hour class Correcting Mistakes with Darlene Joyce Are you tired of running into the shop every time the stitches fall off the needle? Come and learn how to correct common mistakes made while knitting. You will learn to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette, garter, and at the end of the row. The class will include exercises in drop-ping down pattern stitches, picking up dropped stitches, and ripping out rows of knitting and getting stitches back on the needle. Please pick up homework sheet.

Sat. May 13 1 - 3 p.m. Fee: $32 2 hour class

Baltic Summer with June Sorensen Designed by Martina Behm. Try out Round Mountain’s fabulous “bird yarn” or choose your favor-ite fingering weight yarn. The shawlette is knit on the bias, giv-ing the classic chevron pattern an unusual twist. June will get you started with a cable cast on and show you some unusual stitches along the way.

Thurs. May 11 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Fee: $32 2 hour class Shrug This! with Courtney Buckalew Quite possibly the easiest sweater pattern ever. Using a large needle and a little thicker yarn (or a double strand of yarn), this shrug is done in no time. Courtney will help with sizing this pattern for any body size (baby to woman). De-signed by Toni Kayser Weiner. Pattern is available for free. This shrug is perfect for a little summer cover up. Tues. May 16 & 23 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Fee: $55 2 week class Crooked Ewe Cowl with June Sorensen

(Designed by Paula Emons-Fuessle) Crooked Ewe is knitted in the round from the bottom up. Instructions are charted and written in a percentage checklist style which makes it easy to track your progress. You will need approxi-mately 360 to 400 yds

(329 to 366 m) of a sport weight yarn. Less yarn will yield a more shallow cowl, still perfectly fine. More yarn will yield a deeper cowl. The pattern is easily adaptable if you want to make it longer--simply add more stitch pattern repeats. The lace/texture pattern is impressive to look at and simple to work. It is easily memorized so you can focus on the beautiful color. Size is 14” deep and 34” circumference.
