Redesigning Website for the Columbia County Library.

Their site is out dated and needs to be more appealing.

I liked the design of the Seminole County Library.

Therefore, some images were used from this site.

Also, the layout of their navigation bar at the top.

I wanted a soft seafoam color to give the website a calm feeling.

The site doesn’t look anything like my inspiration, but you can see elements that I took from it.

Such as the navigation bar and the calendar events.

I haven’t designed this yet, but I am thinking this design or something close to it would look good.

I’ll figure out the details as I start designing it.

Candara is a casual humanist sans with verticals showing graceful stems.

High-branching arcades in the lowercase.

Large apertures in all open forms, and unique ogee curves on diagonals.

The resultant texture is lively but not intrusive, and makes for a friendly and readable text.

1st Scrolling Image

All Florida Libraries have the same programs. Therefore, the ad images from the Seminole County Library were used to make the Columbia County Library not look over cluttered with text and have more eye catching ads.

The idea for the calendar was from Seminole County Library’s design.

Their all starting to use online programs to get the paperless generation using the state libraries.

This ad image was taken from the actually external website that works with the Florida Libraries to provide this serve, since the libraries image was lacking more information.

Florida is trying to get all their county libraries using this app to make the libraries more accessible for this mobile device generation.

Seeing that this county library advertised free driver test assistants I went to the actually external site testdrive.org to include this ad that was an after thought.

Looking at this ad now I feel I should have searched for another one, because it doesn’t really explain itself.

Lynda.com helps anyone learn business, software, technology and creative skills online to achieve personal and professional goals through individual, corporate, academic and government subscriptions.

COMPS-CARD22

I could not find any information on the Library’s site about getting a library card.

Therefore, I took some of Seminole County Library’s info on card applications.

I fought with the idea of making the application online, but decided after reading how all Libraries did it that in person was best with the option to download the application.

The ad that is provided through the library was an afterthought. I went to the external site to get this ad, since I did not like the library’s ad.


COMPS-FEES

Again I could not find Columbia County Library’s fees information.

Once again I used some of Seminole County Library’s information to complete this page.

To fill the empty space I added the ads used in the home page.

COMPS-LOCATIONS

Taking the design of the Fees page I came up with this layout for the location page.

I felt this library didn’t keep everything in one easy location.

This way when you go to their location page you know their holiday’s, hours and contact info.

As an after thought I added the, “map it” link to assist customers.

The library provided no email addresses.
