Major achievements in Jharkhand

• Notification of Consortium Facilitating Agency (CFA): State Agricultural

Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) was nominated as

Consortium Facilitating Agency (CFA) for Jharkhand state on 10th April, 2015.

• Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CFA and

MANAGE: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between

SAMETI as CFA-Jharkhand and MANAGE as National Consortium facilitating

agency on 16th September 2015.

• CFA has started its work responsibilities in content development and monitoring

–ATMA system engaged

• Regular monitoring and handholding support to Content Development

Team and field extension agents on NICE

• Content development production –structured

• Dissemination process –structured and streamlined

• Structured local plants doctors training for 41 field extension agents

(Kharif and Rabi Season)

• Development of crop calendar -2016 (Government support)

• Convergence with other government programs like -National Mission for

Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) and Bringing Green Revolution in Eastern

India (BGREI)

Decentralization of agro-met advisories at village level

• Bi-weekly agromet advisories are regularly shared to field extension

agents though NICE and Telegram application

• The weather forecast and related advisories are written on the centrally

constructed blackboards

• Farmers frequently read, analyze and try to adopt the information

provided

• Development of Knowledge products such as a Crop Calendar -A

Crop calendar for farmers of Ranchi and East Singhbhum district was

developed that contains static information. The calendars were printed

and shared to more than 1910 farmers in March 2016.

Training of field extension agents as local plant

experts during Kharif and Rabi season

• In this training field extension agents were trained on identification of

major pests and disease of important crops cultivated in Kharif season.

The field extension agents were also trained on low cost management

methods.

Block level camps for field extension agents and

progressive farmers

• Block level camps for 41 field extension agents and farmers were

organized from 21st to 28th September 2015. Practical demonstrations,

field visits and cross learning events were organized. More than 100

progressive farmers in each block participated in these camps.

• CCKN-IA team at Jharkhand had produced a video for stakeholders on

it objective, process, major strategies, and activities. The video can be

Content development and management Workshop-

State level • A workshop was organized under the chairmanship of Director

Extension Education, Birsa Agriculture University to discuss the

strategies of content flow management at Jharkhand and develop a six

month action plan for content development and dissemination.

• District Agriculture Officers, KVK representatives (Content

Development Team), Nodal officer-CCKN-IA, CFA coordinator

participate in the workshop.

Partners workshop at MANAGE –Content

Development

• Two day workshop for nominated CFA, CCKN-IA team and content

development team was organized at MANAGE, Hyderabad from 15-16

of September 2015. In the workshop, role of all the major stakeholders

and institutions were finalized.

• Two day workshop for nominated CFA, CCKN-IA team and content

development team was organized at MANAGE, Hyderabad from 21-22

of April 2016. In the workshop, content development processes were

finalized.

Exposure visit to Germany

• Training and exposure visit on “ICT Based Knowledge Management

Systems for Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture” was conducted

from 20th to 28th February 2016 at Germany. Visits were organized to

German meteorology department, Biochar center, Potsdam institute for

climate change and research, Training center, Julius Kuehn Institute,

and Thunen institute

Establishment of a “Unit” to operate the CCKN-IA

• Director ATMA, is the Project Controller of the project and Dy. Director, ATMA

is the Nodal Officer of the project at State while Project Director ATMA is the

Nodal Officer at District level.

• Principal RAMETI, Pune nominated as Coordinator of Consortium Facilitating

Agency for this project to look after the other stakeholders of this project and

MANAGE, Hyderabad is nominated as National Consortium Facilitating

Agency.

• Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) from four KVKs nominated for content

generation

• MPKV, Rahuri nominated 23 scientists for validation of contents created by

nominated SMS of KVKs

Establishment of a “Unit” to operate the CCKN-IA

• IPPP with Reuters Market Light (RML) a private agency to provide climate

change adaptation advisories along with market information to 20,000 farmers

in project blocks. Over 19000 farmers enrolled till date. They collected

feedback from 1000 subscribers.

• Met representatives of FAO at Hyderabad to discuss their project entitled

“Farm Water School”. Also, visited project site in Kurnool district of Hyderabad

to collect the get the clear picture of the project. They want to extend their

project in Maharashtra and seeks appointment of Hon ACS, Agriculture

regarding this

CONTENT CREATION

• 19 thousand farmers are registered for getting

information personaly via sms

• KVKs are generating block level one pagers for

each domain in each week. (Domains are

Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Protection and

Livestock)

• Crop Pest Weather Calendar designed, printed

and distributed to farmers.

current field scenario and major field problems.
