• Sets policies and is responsible for development and implementation of national policy inthe energy sector, including the establishment of the required legislative and regulatoryframework;
• Is also responsible (among others) for the development of sector strategies, the attractionof investment in the sector, and the development of the competition.

• Is nominated as the sector regulator;• The commission issue licenses in the Georgian electricity, natural gas and water sectors
and control/monitor activities of licensees;• Resolve disputes between licensees and customers• Is responsible for market monitoring;

National Council on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Second annual meeting of the national Council on the SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs) of Georgia was held on 22 January 2019
Chaired by the Administration of the Government of Georgia and theUnited Nations, the SDG Council brought together over 130representatives of the Georgian Government, United Nations, civilsociety, private sector, academic institutions and internationalorganizations.
The Georgian Government Administration previewed its SDG tracker, a new electronic system that will be launched later in 2019 to keep monitor progress on more than 200 national SDG indicators.
The Council was established in 2017 by the Administration of the Government of Georgia with assistance from the United Nations and the Government of Sweden. Four thematic working groups:• Social Inclusion • Economic Development• Democratic Governance • Sustainable Energy & Environment Protection
Workshop14th of February
The high-level workshop - “2030 Sustainable Development Goals "was held in MoESD.
The meeting was attended by:UNESCAP, Deputy Ministers of MoESD and MFA, Executive Director of GeoStat.
The main stakeholders were presented from: MEPA, MFA, GNERC, GTU, EEC, CENN, GGTC, UNDP, GEDF, Parliament of Georgia and other public and private entities
The workshop was divided into 7 sessions. Out of which 3 breakout sessions, where participants were divide intogroups and work on :
• Discussing and identifying nationally relevant measures to achieve the SDG7 targets
• Identifying the output needed from the roadmap to enable policy decisions for SDG7
• identifying the interlinkages of SDG7 targets with other SDGs
