Eco – Industrial Parks and to ensure industrial growth

in the state of Andhra Pradesh on sustainable models.

Vision of APIIC

APIIC has entered into MOU with GTZ-ASEM in March

2003

To identify the areas for cooperation

To identify the parks for conversion to Eco Industrial Parks in AP.

To identify the infrastructure requirements in the parks

Important Milestones

Revised MOU was entered in April 2004 to

demonstrate Eco-Industrial Estate development of

certain identified IP’s as pilot studies.

» Existing Industrial estate at Nacharam & Mallapur

» Eco Industrial strategy for the industrial park site from planning stage

in APSEZ in Visakapatnam.

» EMC is Established commonly for the industrial parks Nacharam and Mallapur.

» Initial for a period of one year cost borne by APIICRs.18.00 lacs.

» IALAS /Service society will be sharing the maintenance cost proportionately

» Execution agency M/s Indwa Technologies

Impacts: »Data bank on industries developed on activity & pollution

» Regularly monitored the pollution levels, identified the non-complying/polluting industries and informed IALAs

» Coordinated infrastructure implementation – 3,000 tree plantations, 21 km roads, 30% of sewer & storm water drains.


Signboards are placed at waste dump sites.

Presently, reduced dumping is noticed.

Storm - Water Drainage

» Length of storm-water drains is approx 21.00 Km

» Estimated cost of storm-water drainage system is Rs 80 millions

» Zone based on topography for cost optimisation

» Water harvesting Pits - prior treatment - Recharge the Groundwater Table

Status: Work in progress


Waste Water Management : Sewerage system

» Designed to cater the wastewater – 8.00 MLD

» Overall length of sewerage system – 22.60 km

» Estimated cost for sewerage system- Rs. 50 mi

» Execution Agency – M/s Jain Irrigation

Status : Civil Work is in progress

“ECO- CLUB” is a forum where representatives of individual industries can discuss the problem related to their industrial productivity, environmental aspects etc and explore possible solutions.

Experts from NPC – Hyderabad played the role of technical resource personnel, providing appropriate inputs form time to time besides acting as facilitators of the discussions.

Impact: The Unit holders have appreciated the need for productivity

improvement tools and 15 units have submitted LOI for participation in ECO-Profit programme.

» For the year 2007-08, the Zonal Manager of Moula ali has received the “APIIC – GTZ Environment Award”.
