Plug your neutralizer control valve into an outlet.

Press and hold either the up or down button until the programming icon replaces the service icon and the display reads “TD.”

Using the up and down buttons, set the time to 12:01 PM, then wait 5 seconds for the service icon to replace the programming icon before holding the up and down buttons together for 5 seconds.

(The programming icon is pictured right: it is the pen-like symbol under “TD.” )

Your display screen should now read “DF GAL.”

If you are in the U.S., press the extra cycle button to go to the next step.

If you are outside the U.S., use the up or down buttons to select Liters (Ltr) or Cubic Meters (Cu) as your display format, and then press the extra cycle button.

The top left of your display screen should now read “VT,” for Valve Type.

Use the up and down buttons to select “dF2b.” This means it is set for standard downflow mode.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

The top left of your display screen should now read “CT,” for Control Type.

Use the up and down buttons to select “Fd.”

This is the Meter Delayed option, which tells the Fleck 7000 to keep track of the amount of water used, but wait until the preset regeneration time before running backwash and rinse cycles.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

The top left of your display screen should now read “C,” for Unit Capacity.

If you have a 30K grain capacity softener, set this value to 30. If you have a 48K or 80K grain softener, use 48 or 80, respectively.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 6 – Feed Water HardnessThe top left of your display screen should now read “H,” for Feed Water Hardness.

Using the up and down buttons, set this value to equal your water’s hardness in grains per gallon (you can determine your water’s hardness with an at-home test or via lab analysis).

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 7 – Reserve SelectionThe top left of your display screen should now read “RS,” for Reserve Selection.

Using the up and down buttons, set the reserve selection to SF.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 8 – Safety FactorThe top left of your display screen should now read “SF,” for Safety Factor.

Using the up and down buttons, set the safety factor to 20.

This will allow the softener to regenerate 200 gallons sooner to avoid exhausting the softener resin before it needs to regenerate.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 9 – Day OverrideThe top left of your display screen should now read “DO,” for Day Override. This is the critical setting that allows your filter to routinely backwash after a fixed number of days.

Using the up and down buttons, set the day override between 1 and 14, depending on your particular system requirements.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 10 – Regeneration TimeThe top left of your display screen should now read “RT,” for Regeneration Time.

Using the up and down buttons, set the regeneration time to 2:00 AM, or some time when no water is being used, and no other filter or softener is likely to be in a regeneration cycle.

Press the extra cycle button when done.

Step 11 – Regeneration Cycle Step Times• The top left of your display screen should now read “B1,” for Backwash. Set to 8 minutes and

press extra cycle button.

• The top left of your display screen should now read “BD,” for Brine Draw. Set to 60 and press extra cycle button.

• The top left of your display screen should now read “B2,” for 2nd Backwash. Set to 6 minutes and press extra cycle button.

• The top left of your display screen should now read “RR,” for Rapid Rinse. Set to 6 minutes and press extra cycle button.

• The top left of your display screen should now read “BF,” for Brine Fill. Set to 12 for 30k grain softeners; 20 for 48K grain; 32 for 80K grain. Press the extra cycle button.

Step 12 – Flow Meter TypeThe top left of your display screen should now read “FM,” for Flow Meter Type.

Using the up and down buttons, set the flow meter type to t1.2. This is the standard setting for a Fleck 7000 meter.

Press the extra cycle button when done to save all settings and exit Master Programming Mode.

You’re done!

Note that the control valve may take several minutes to re-home and re-set after this process – do not unplug the control valve during this time.
