Conference SecretariatIn case of questions, please contact the Conference Secretariat located in the second floor, green sector (see map).
Internet AccessWireless LAN is offered free of charge for all participants within the Freihaus Building. Access codes are available in the Delegate Bags.
Internet RoomThe internet room can be used for checking e-mails etc. Please use the following login data: user: biot, password: conference Unfortunately, it is not possible to make print-outs there. Please contact the registration desk in case you want to print, e.g., boarding passes.
Meeting RoomThe meeting room, located on the first floor, red sector (see map) can be used for individual meetings.
Photocopy ServicesYou can make photocopies at “Copy Shop”, which is located on the ground floor, red sector (see map). This service is not free of charge.
Freihaus Registration, information, and all scientific events will take place in the Freihaus.
This building is located at the beginning of Wiedner Hauptstraße next to Karlsplatz (one of the most important stations of Vienna‘s underground system). From outside, the Freihaus can be identified easily by its green facade.
Inside the FreihausThe Freihaus has three ‚towers‘ with up to 10 floors. Each tower is coded by a colour: red, yellow, and green. One can change from one to another tower in each floor. Note that according to the European system the street level is denoted as Ground Floor or, in German, Erdgeschoß (EG). The levels above are numbered consecutively starting with 1st Floor or, in German, 1. Obergeschoß (1.OG). In each floor, orientation maps showing the detailed topology of the floor are posted next to the elevators. See room maps on the last page.

Terzaghi LaboratoryThe „Terzaghi Laboratory“ (original title „Erdbaulabor“) was founded in 1928 by Prof. Karl Terzaghi. It is worldwide the oldest university laboratory of soil mechanics in today‘s sense, and contains not only modern equipment, but also historical laboratory devices, e.g. first triaxial apparatus with porewater measurement, first ring shear apparatus, shear test equipment for residual shear strength, and others. Moreover, numerous old documents have been preserved.
The Terzaghi-Laboratory, located in the main building of TU Wien (see map below), is open for visits on Wednesday & Thursday, 12:30 - 16:00 Friday, 11:30 - 16:00
In addition, guided tours are offered during the welcome cocktail and on Friday afternoon. Please con-tact the registration desk for registering for the tour.
Welcome Cocktail: Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 19:00The welcome cocktail will take place at the „Cupola Hall“ of TU Wien, which is located in the main buil-ding (see map below).
Banquet: Thursday, July 11, 2013, Entrance: 19:00, Beginning: 19:30The banquet, given by the Mayor of the City of Vienna for all registered participants and accompanying persons, will take place in the picturesque City Hall. The City Hall can be reached by underground line U2, get off at Rathaus.

Information for Lecturers■ Please check the time and lecture room of your presentation in the daily programme and on the
info boards as there might have been changes.
■ Technical staff is assigned to each lecture room for help with technical equipment.
■ Each lecture room is equipped with a notebook (Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, Acrobat Reader) and a video projector. You are asked to upload your presentation on the notebook as soon as possible, but at the very latest in the break before the session.
■ Please be present at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your session and let the chairperson know you are there.
■ Please make sure to stay in your session from the beginning on in order to ensure smooth changes between the individual presentations.
■ The time allotted for the presentations is 20 min. (incl. discussion) for all presentations. The chairpersons are requested to stop presentations after the allotted time has passed.
Information for Chairpersons■ Please check the time and lecture room of the session you are chairing in the daily programme
and on the info boards as there might have been changes.
■ All lecturers of your session are requested to approach you in the lecture room at least 10 minutes before the start of the session. This allows you to identify lecturers who have not arrived yet.
■ Technical staff is assigned to each lecture room for help with technical equipments. They are responsible for the technical equipment in the lecture room and are ready to help you in any other aspect.
■ You are kindly asked to switch between presentations by simply announcing the name of the next presenter and the title of the presentation. Due to the tight schedule, there will not be sufficient time for introducing individual lecturers in a more detailed manner.
■ Please do your best to strictly limit the duration of each presentation and discussion to the allotted time.
■ If a lecturer is missing, please stick to the original programme, i.e., extend the discussion time of the preceding presentation or allow a break for the duration of the missing lecture(s). This enables participants to listen to chosen individual lectures according to the announced sequence.
