Welcome Address

Dear Friends and Colleagues, Welcome to Cracow and the 9 th ESEAC/SEAC Conference on Electroanalysis. The Conference this year is one of the major interna-tional meetings in the field with about 70 oral and 160 poster presenta-tions from 30 countries and all Continents except Antarctica. The Organizers have applied strict quality criteria and we hope that the presented papers are really worthy of your attention. The five plenary lectures will be given by the renowned speakers who together with the other presenters will cover a wide range of current electroa-nalysis. This field is experiencing rapid growth in diverse areas. These include environmental protection, bio- and medical analysis, DNA analysis, new electrochemical sensors, modified electrode mate-rials, new voltammetric and amperometric methods, electroanalysis in the absence of supporting electrolytes, and the others. In addition to the scientific programme we hope you will enjoy social events that have been arranged. The unique in global scale Wieliczka Salt Mine will host us for a Banquet which we believe will be a spectacular event. Also the City of Cracow, its historical Old Town and Royal Castle should add unforgetable impressions to your scientific experiences. Cracow is the former capital of Poland, a more than ten-century old city where West and East, past and future meet each other. The Conference will take place at the campus of the University of Mining and Metallurgy which is ranked among the two best Polish technical universities. Thank you for attending the Conference; we are confident that you will find it as a very important scientific event.

With best regards

Professors and Chairmen Janusz Gołaś Andrzej Lewenstam Zbigniew Stojek

Conference Venue

Cracow is a unique city of more than a thousand years history, a former capital of Poland, and the second largest, after Warsaw, academic centre.Cracow consists of an inner town and several suburbs. The city contains a large number of historic buildings. The most notable is the Royal Castle on the Wawel Hill. Other notable buildings are the Church of Saint Mary, the Gothic edifice dating from 1223, Collegium Maius, the oldest building of Jagiellonian University (1364), ancient city walls and many others. Cracow’s old centre was included by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee on the list of the world most precious cultural monuments, covers an area of 72 hectares and has 55 pieces of architecture of the highest class. Our town has a unique atmosphere as a significant scientific and artistic centre.
