InformationWe are a community of people from different backgrounds all seeking to grow in our relationship with Christ and to lead others to that same place. We look to the Bible as the primary authority and instruction on how to live life with God, His church, and the community around us. We strive for a life-changing connection with Jesus Christ, to be a disciple, and to live a surrendered and forgiven life. We invite you to check out the opportunities we have for children, youth, and adults of all ages and stages of life. At Woodlake UMC we offer a variety of worship styles, ministries, and a community that will inspire, challenge, and encourage you as together we seek to know, love and serve God. Our vision is to Love God, Know God, and Live Our Faith as Disciples of Jesus Christ!

PASTORALMINISTRY

CONTACT PASTORAL CARE MINISTRYMarie Misiaszek, DirectorTracy Garner, Pastoral & Administrative [email protected] woodlakeumc.org/care

The Congregational Care Ministry provides compassionate caring concern through personal contact with members of the church family who have special needs for spiritual support. This care ministry reaches out to people who are experiencing personal or extended family illnesses that require hospital care or long term follow up to those who have lost a loved one, to the homebound and those requiring nursing facilities. The Director of Congregational Care is available, along with our Pastors, to pray, support and counsel members of our church family and community through difficult situations. These interactions are managed confidentially. Congregational Care is a ministry for all believers.

LAY COMMUNIONA team of dedicated to volunteers take consecrated communion elements to homes, nursing homes or hospitals for those unable to attend worship. This occurs monthly on each communion Sunday, for special observances, and as requested. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry or you or someone you know would like to receive Communion, contact Marie Misiaszek at 804-739-4535 x 8863 or [email protected].

STEPHEN MINISTRYStephen Ministry is a ministry of caring Stephen Ministers are people in our congregation who are trained to listen and help others sort through their feelings. They are not counselors or therapists; rather, they are caring Christian friends who can offer a listening ear to help others through the tough times in life.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRYKnitted and crocheted items can be dropped off in the church anytime you have one complete. The Pastoral Care Team will deliver them on visits to hospitals, nursing homes & rehab centers. As you knit or crochet, please pray over your work!

DRIVE TO SERVEJoin a group of volunteers who give their time to drive our senior citizens or people who are unable to transport themselves to worship and other church events. If you are interested, please contact Marie at [email protected] or 804-739-4535 x 8863.

COLLEGE CARE PACKAGESCare packages are sent during the school year to support our college-age members away at school. If you know of a college student who would like to receive a care package, send their name and address to [email protected].

FUNERAL HOSPITALITYFuneral receptions are provided by our United Methodist Women as a gift to those who have lost a loved one. Compassionate women provide and serve food in the Gathering Space outside of the Worship Center following the funeral service. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Sandy Delp at 804-739-2109.

MEALS OF LOVEThe Healing Ministry provides meals for families in times of need - after surgery, a time of loss. We are always in need for folks who are willing to provide a meal when needed - homemade or take out is fine. It’s the love from a church family that the meal expresses that’s most important. Please contact Marie at 804-739-4535 x 8863 or [email protected] for more information about how and when meals are scheduled and how you can help.

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.” – Romans 12:6. We have been blessed with these gifts so that we may be a blessing to others. At WUMC we encourage all our members to put their gifts to use in acts of service to others. Christ calls his disciples to live out their faith in the world. He gives us many examples of how to live in this world, but the image most often described is one of a servant. In order for us to be followers of Jesus we must be servants for the world. All are invited to participate in a variety of mission efforts each month throughout the year. In 2016, the goal is for all the Woodlake UMC family to be rich in good deeds, as we give generously by sharing God’s blessings. Visit us online at woodlakeumc.org/missions to find out more information on ways to serve both in and outside of the church.

CHRIST CARE PACKAGES Christ Care Packages are packages that can be kept in our car, thereby enabling us to be prepared when God puts the homeless in our lives. We invite you to gather with us throughout the year to donate items and assemble the bag during Connect worship, or feel free to make your own bags at home. Nancy Edwards, [email protected]
