Prof. İsmail Avcı Işık University Faculty of Fine Arts Visual Arts Dept. [email protected] Ismail AVCI, was born in 1939, in Istanbul. He started his education at Terkos Primary School and continued at 'The Village Institue of Kırklareli-Lüleburgaz Kepirtepe' and finallly obtained his BA from 'Ankara Gazi Institue of Education, department of Fine Arts'. He lived in France between 1967-1968 and worked as an assistant at France National Education Institue. He reproduced Van Gogh and Cezanne paintings in Louve Museum. During his military service period, he worked as an internal decorator in Ankara. During 1961- 1973, he was an art instructer at Sivas and Bolu "Teacher's High School". Between 1973-1999 he was an assosiate profesor at Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty and assumed department director repsonsibility at different times during this 26 years. 1979-1981, he also worked as an associate professor on printmaking in National Fine Arts Academy, UESYO in Istanbul. 1975- 1985; he produced some of his printmaking art works with famous Turkish artists in Alte Grafik-Çamlıca Sanatevi. He has got professor degree in 1992 at Marmara University and officially retired in 1999 to pursue different carrier opportunities. In 2007 he joined to the the founder team of Işık University Fine Arts Faculty. He is currently teaching as professor at Visual Arts department of Işık University Fine Arts Faculty. In addition to his teaching activities, He initiated opening of free style drawing classes to promote art at Işık University Şile Campus and and provide bridge between Maslak and Şile campuses.Students from different diciplines are now attending his voluntary classes . His art works remains in private and goverment collections. His art book named "Before Skecth After Skecth" published in 1999. He had 19 solo exhibitions, 124 joint exhibition.
