Overview

Test Center. The deformability and elasticity were measured and a

permanent tread load was applied. The test was based on the DLG Testing Framework for elastic floor coverage, as at April 2010.

Other criteria were not investigated.

The FokusTest is a smaller-scale DLG usability test intended to allow product differentiation and special highlighting of innovations in ma-chinery and technical products used primarily in agriculture, fore-stry, horticulture, fruit cultivation and viticulture, as well as in lands-cape and municipal management.

This test focuses on testing a pro- duct’s individual qualitative criteria, e.g. fatigue strength, performance,

or quality of work. The scope of testing can include criteria from the testing framework of a DLG Sig-numTest, the DLG’s exten sive usa-bility test for technical products, and concludes with the publishing of a test report and the awarding of a test mark.

The DLG FocusTest “Deforma- bility/Elasticity, Permanent Tread Load” includes technical measure-ments on test stands of the DLG

The Proflex Meadowfloor tested here, a concrete slatted floor for walking ways with rubber cover and integrated concrete blocks, was investigated with regard to dura-bility and comfort properties on test stands in the DLG FocusTest. The deformability and elasticity were measured and a permanent tread load was applied. The deformability and elasticity and following permanent tread load were significantly better than standard.

The Method

Deformability and elasticity

The deformability is measured in new condition and following permanent tread load with a round steel foot (diameter of 105 mm and therefore a contact area of 75 cm²) and a penetration force of 2,000 N (corresponding to approx. 200 kg).

Permanent tread load

The permanent tread load is measured on a test stand with a round steel foot in the standard test programme with 250,000 alter-nating loads at 5,000 N (corres-ponding to approx. 500 kg). The steel foot is adapted to the natural conditions as an “artificial cow foot”. The foot has a diameter

of 105 mm and therefore a contact area of 75 cm²; the carrying edge of the hoof is simulated by a 5 mm

wide ring on the periphery of the sole that projects 1 mm above the rest of the surface.

Description and Technical Data

Summary

Based on test-stand investigations, the criteria tested in this DLG FocusTest evaluate the comfort and durability properties of the

Meadowfloor a concrete slatted floor with rubber cover for walking ways. The tested Meadowfloor met the requirements of the testing

framework with respect to the investigated criteria.

Deformability and elasticity

In the penetration test in new condition with a round steel foot (artificial cow s foot) having a dia meter of 105 mm (contact area 75 cm², with a 5 mm wide ring at the periphery of the sole, which projects 1 mm over the rest of the surface (carrying edge of the claw)) and a penetration force of 2.000 N (corresponding to ca. 200 kg), penetration depth was 3.5 mm.

This results in a calculated surface pressure of 26.7 N/cm².

Elasticity was measured after the Meadowfloor had been exposed to a permanent tread load exerted by the steel foot (250.000 alter-nating loads of 5.000 N). After the endurance test, the penetration depth of the rubber cover increased to 3.8 mm (see Fig. 3). On the concrete elements no deformation was measured.

Evaluation see Table 1.

The Test Results in Detail

Permanent tread load

After the Meadowfloor had been exposed to a permanent tread load exerted with 250.000 alternating loads of 5.000 N (corresponding to ca. 500 kg), the rubber cover

showed wear. Lasting deformation could not be observed at the rubber cover.

Evaluation see Table 1.

The Proflex Meadowfloor is a concrete slatted floor for walking ways with black rubber cover and integrated green concrete blocks.

The rubber cover has ridges and grooves on the surface and the concrete blocks a sqaure profil.

The ridges of the rubber cover have an integrated slope to the slot. The ridges of the rubber cover are ca. 0 to 4 mm high, ca. 11 mm wide and ca. 137 mm long.

The rubber cover has a Shore A-Hardness of ca. 65.
