A permanent installation of the measuring point PNMA Cu into the network connection between the automation device (PLC) and the first switch is recommended because typically the majority of the com- munication converges in this connection. The PNMA POF has to be switched into the connection to be analysed between two POF devices. Therefor two network sockets (network IN and OUT) are available. Without network access no analysis! Our measuring point PMNA provides an optimal solution to you! Recording via port mirroring at switch Advantages: • No additional hardware required (no PNMA Cu) Disadvantages: • Time-consuming creation of mirror port at switch • High load of switch by mirror port • Package losses at high data rates • Bidirectional mirror port urgently required • Faulty telegrams are not mirrored Recording via PNMA Cu Advantages: • No free switch port required • No connecting of measuring tools necessary • Unrestricted bidirectional up to 100 MBit/s Disadvantages: • Additional hardware Application

Functionality

Measuring Point PNMA Cu - Embedding in Network

There are two monitor sockets (monitor IN and OUT) available at the PNMA CU for a non-reactive connection of an analysing tool e.g. PN-INspektor® or PC by using two network cables. Thus, both communication directions can be monitored at the same time and the measuring results can be superimposed in terms of time for analysis and evaluation. Error telegrams are not rejected by the PNMA but forwarded.
