    It is required by the accrediting body

    In the old days, the accreditation was done byIEE (now it is IET)

    IEE in the old days required such a subject(mainly to test the use of English)

    After 1997, HKIE became the accreditation body

    in HK In UK, no such subject in the engineering

    curriculum ??!!

    Signatories When Determining to Undertake Quality

    Assurance Evaluations in Another Country not a

    member of the Accord

    Washington Accord Signatorieswill:

    Affirm their organizational capacity to undertake a review

    (e.g., language, trained staff and evaluators, budget,

    experience, basic information about the country);

    Clarify the relationship of international review activity to

    the priorities of the accrediting organization;

    Communicate with other Washington Accordsignatories about international review activity;

    Promulgate a clear statement of the scope of the

    evaluation and the use of the recognition status byan institution or program in another country,especially with regard to transfer of credit anddegree and qualifications equivalency;

    IEEE - WHAT PROFESSIONALISM IS

    Has to do with how engineers practice and conduct them-selves in their work and as individuals in society. Further, it includes the way their clients/employers award

    them for their work. Further, it includes the recognition bestowed upon them

    by society as a result of the contributions they make tosociety from the results of applying their specialscientific knowledge in engineering products for thepublic to use.

    Professionalism is the conduct that characterizes ormarks a profession or professional person.

    Buried somewherein the notion of professionalism areethics or honest practice. Other attributes are a job well done, a concern for public
