SKIN ISSUES AND WHY THEY OCCUR Skin conditions on a groom dog are a real problem for the groomer. Cliff will be discussing some skin conditions that you will regularly see, why they occur and how to deal with them. Kathy will be on hand to share her knowledge on this very popular presentation.

10.30am Morning tea

10.45-12.45pmDOODLE, LABRADOODLE OR GROODLE Doesn’t matter what oodle coat type, we will cover it. These popular poodle crosses can have so MANY different coat types! Cliff will also be in the room giving his expert comments on coats & dog type.

1.30-2.30pm IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE COAT! WHAT ABOUT THE EARS, BUTTS, AND TEETH?? A comprehensive look at all you need to know! Anatomy, diseases, liabilities, and the role of the groomer in their maintenance. Providing value for your clients.

2.45-4.45pm THE MINI POODLE – DEMOKathy will demonstrate time saving tips and techniques on a mini poodle using snap on combs with a scissor finish to create a plush velvet trim in minimal time.

9.45-10.45amCALL THE VET! GROOMER VS VETERINARY RELATIONSHIP Building a good relationship with your Veterinarian. When and how it is important to get your Vet involved in any health issues that you observe in a groom dog. What to tell the client.

10.45am Morning tea

11-noon THE MINI SCHNAUZER – DEMOLearn the techniques to capture the correct look. Make your pet schnauzers your signature groom!

12.15-1.15pm BREAD & BUTTER GROOMING: THE YORKIE PET TRIM – DEMOKathy will use snap ons and will demonstrate quick salon grooming and important add on services, such as beads or feathers.

1.15pm Lunch

2-3.30pm DEALING WITH THE DIFFICULT DOG How to avoid injury using correct handling techniques, reading the dog’s body language and getting through that difficult groom safely!

DEALING WITH THE CLIENTS AND THE VETS! – VET / GROOMER The first approach you make to a new client can make such a difference and what about educating your customer as to how they can help make the next visit SO much easier for you!And secondly, don’t let the client pit you against the Veterinarian. Learn ways to deal with clients who try to use the lack of communications between Vets and groomers to their advantage.

4.45-5.30pm ASK THE VET/GROOMER OPEN FORUM A great opportunity to ask all of those questions that you always wanted to know, but never had the chance to ask the experts.

PIAA is privileged to introduce Kathy Rose – an absolute icon of the global grooming industry! Kathy’s successful contest career garnered her a place on GroomTeam USA on four consecutive traveling teams competing in the World Team Championships. She helped to bring home two gold and two silver medals. She is a Barkleigh Honors nominee for judging, service to the industry and journalism as well as a multiple Crystal Award nominee winning for outstanding service to the industry. Kathy is a recognized lecturer and EGA and USA contest judge throughout the US and Europe, as well as Australia, Canada, Korea, Portugal, China and South America. Kathy’s Salon Pets of Perfection has adorned the cover of Groomer to Groomer Buyers guide and has been nominated for three Crystal awards. Kathy currently serves on the Board of Directors for GroomTeam USA, Coordinates all of the Barkleigh grooming contests in the US, serves as Master of Ceremonies for the World Pet Association shows, writes a monthly column for Groomer to Groomer magazine and operates her boutique grooming salon in Boynton Beach, Florida.

All sessions will be interactive and feature both Kathy & Cliff bouncing off each other in sharing their expert knowledge in the world of day to day professional grooming.

Dr. Cliff Faver, DVM (USA)A vet who can speak groomer talk!!!How lucky are we? He is absolutely the most experienced and sought-after speaker on the American grooming circuit that is not actually a groomer!!!What Cliff doesn’t know about grooming specific topics as well as having a point of view as a vet is second to none!!!Dr. Cliff Faver is a 1987 graduate of Colorado State University & the owner of Animal Health Services a 24 hour pet urgent and critical care centre plus a full service veterinary hospital.

He also founded Tender Paw Day Spa a dermatological wellness and grooming centre for pets located in Animal Health Services. He is a member of several national committees and associations such as Novartis LEAD Committee, Hill’s Global (International) Veterinary Board, Veterinary Management Group #14, AAHA, AzVMA, AVMA, and his hospital is a Hill’s Pet Nutrition test site.

Cliff is a highly sought after speaker & presenter by Barkleigh Productions in the States who present all the major grooming conferences, seminars, shows, magazines and TV for the American Grooming Industry such as:-
