Dissertations (Titles & Fields of Research)

(a) M.Sc. (1981): Study on the cell size variation of trachery elements in Bomhax malabaricum in relation to girth of tree trunk. (Field-Plant Anatomy)

(b) M.Phil. (1983): Studies on primary productivity in relation to air pollution emitted by a coal- fired power plant. (Field-Ecology)

(c) Ph.D. (1985): Studies on primary productivity in relation to air pollution emitted by a coal-Fired power plant. (Field-Ecology/Air pollution).

Contributions to the knowledge

(a) Air pollution reduced the average plant life span as evidenced by the life history

of Anagallis arvensis L. (Ph.D. thesis. 1985 and Environ. Pollut. Vol. 52. 1988),

(b) The root growth was more severely impaired by the air pollutants than the aerial parts due to a direct impact on carbon allocation patterns and net photosynthesis

rate. (Ibid).

(c) More severe damage to the plant occurs during winter season than in monsoon

and summer. (Ibid). (d) Eutrophication – An Ecological vision (Bot. Review, 2005) (e) Drought resistance in plant (Ph.D thesis - Bagh Hosain)

(f) Role of proline in insect defense(M Phil and Ph. D thesis Dr Farha Rehman, chapters)
