Human excreta contains dangerous and often lethal pathogens
2.5 billion people lack access to sanitation
The reality of the situation is deadly
In over-crowded environments, without adequate sanitation, people are exposed to dangerous and often lethal pathogens contained in faeces. The toll on human life is rapidly multiplying.
Women and Children are especially vulnerable
> 2 million children dies every year due to contaminated environment
Women, adolescent girls and children constitute 80% of the world’s refugees and displaced persons

Disease prevention safes lives
Diseases such as diarrhoea and malaria are a major cause of mortality and morbidity in humanitarian emergencies Diarrhoeal diseases alone contribute to between 25-50% of all deaths in camp situations. More than 80% of the deaths occur in children under 2 years. Preventing diarrhoeal infection by promoting hygienic practices should be priority number one in an emergency situation.

Immediate diseasecontrol at the source
Peepoo works as a micro-treatment plant sanitizing human excreta shortly after defecation. Within 2-4 weeks the disease-producing pathogens found in the faeces are inactivated. Inside the Peepoo there is a dose of urea. With the help of the enzyme urease present in the faeces, the urea breaks down to carbon dioxide and ammonia. CO(NH2)2+(urease)+H2O > CO2+2NH3 The ammonia acts as a micro-bicidal.

These are mainlyconnected to pathogenicbacteriasuch as salmonella and Vibriocholera, but VECT, Shigella and campylobactscanalso be considered in this. In many situations there are no feasible sanitation solutions available at all. The ongoing quiet sanitation crisis is particularly serious in urban slums, emergencies, refugee and IDP camps and schools. These are the four market segment we will primarily focus. More than 1 billion people live in slum. We have conducted fieldtests in Kibera, Nairobi and Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Several projects being discussed with e.g. MCI. We will launch in Kibera in August this year. More than 100 million people suffer in floodings and earth quakes every year. Currently a fieldtest ongoing with Oxfam on Haiti. Another field-test with Kenya Red Cross soon to start. More than 30 million people permanently live in refugee and IDP camps The lack of sanitation in schools is one of the main reasons why girls don’t finish schools. Our field-tests show that the patented solution works and is very well accepted by the users. The Peepoo solution is already now widely requested by aid organizations, rescue- and emergency teams, governments within areas specially exposed to wide spread diseases caused by the lack of sufficient sanitations systems etc. With a fully developed production line the company could already today have made shippings of hundreds of thousands toilets a day. Initial market focus in emergency- and refugee camp market with an instant need TODAY. PeePoople is now seeking funding for the building of the first high speed production line with a capacity of 0.5 million Peepoos a day. The first line will be built and operated together with Swedish company Billerud and in cooperation with BASF and the Norwegian company FIMTech. Awaiting the first commercial production line we are currently setting up a temporary semi-manual pre-production facility in Nairobi with a capacity of 5000 Peepoos per day.
