TREATMENT TREATED TIMBER
Can a customer tell if a timber
piece is treated at the stated
treatment level by the looks of
the timber?? NO!!!!!
Timber treatment requires:
Correct moisture content of
the timber prior to treatment.
Tropik dries timber products
through high and low temp
fully automated steam Kilns.
Correct chemical mix
(solution) / concentration.
Correct chemical penetration
or retention.
Tropik guarantees its treated
timber and also gets its product
samples independently tested by
Department of Forestry.

FRAMING TIMBER
Build houses certified to withstand
cyclones------Choose Tropik’s
strength graded framing timber!!!!
Tropik framing timber is graded for strength
and stiffness allowing its use in load bearing
situations – Cyclone rated building structures.
What is the key determining factor for different
strength grade?
The age of pine logs
The specie of pine
The fiber strength which is dependent on age and
specie
How is the strength grading done?
Through automated strength grading machine
(A Grader) which is independently calibrated to
Australian Strength Grading standards.
“A Grader” automatically sprays a color paint
on the timber piece to indicate the strength
grade.
A “Bending Tester” machine is used to carry
out strength test at periodic samples to ensure
that the “A Grader” is giving the correct
strength grade—QUALITY ASSURANCE!!!
Treated framing timber is available both in unsea-
soned (wet) and seasoned (dry) forms.
Treated wet timber is not normally stress graded
and is cut of log grade not conforming to F5+ struc-
tural grade. Suitable for light use and in non-load
bearing structures. It is heavier but is easier to nail
than dry treated timber.

NZ Proposed New New Zealand MGP Grades
Dry treated timber is machine stress graded to F5—F11 with moisture
content of 7 to 12%. It is suitable for any specific design or construc-
tion in particular those certified structures to withstand cyclone wind
loads.
