Media Final Cut – Roles And PlanFor our final cut media video, we have decided not to have Corry playing Hugh and instead just have the three of us Me, Phil and Charlie. We felt that this was better for showing the groups skills. The production roles for our group are below.

Adam Kirby – Actor, Evaluation and partner director

Charlie Hockin – Actor, editor and partner director

Even though we have got designated positions for the film, we all had a say with what was being done to make sure that we were all happy from the groups point of view with our movie. But generally we did keep to a well laid out plan of who was doing what, to make sure that we ended up with a good piece of work in the end.

As a group we also had to look at location. And we decided to use a place called Weston Woods to film our opening sequence. We wanted to use Weston Woods because it is a really good but quite remote jogging area, also the way we filmed made the area look remote and quite. This was excellent because we want to take the audience out of there comfort zone with the movie, we as a group thought that this would be brilliant to help the audience engage as well as sympathies with the characters. On the next slide I have displayed and annotated images from where we recorded.

Above is an image of the first area where we recorded our movie. You can see the road in the background and the path where Tony and Hugh start there jog. We also see the killer at this point as he walks into the wood behind Tony and Hugh. We thought this was a good area to film because we go from showing civilization by the road and into the more remote woods. This helps to lead the viewers outside of there comfort zone.

The second shot shows the path but from the opposite angle as we go further into the woods. I like how you can see the transition as we change and the film becomes more and more remote. This was the area were we shot the second running scene as Tony and Hugh travel further into the woods. You may notice that in our actual recording, the areas were we filmed are much darker and this is because we used an editing tool to make the film look more sinister. We really wanted to make these woods look evil.

The third place were we filmed, was the area where Charlie first told Hugh to stop, secondly sat down and thirdly where he got killed. We chose this position because it seemed the most dark and remote. This spot was probably the spot with the most action however the next area which is also the last also has allot happening in it.

The last area we recorded was the path down the hill, this was the area were Huh first noticed that Tony was missing. And secondly were Hugh gets killed. As a group this is our favorite area in the film, because not only does it lead back to a road, but it also makes the audience think that Hugh is going to be ok. Unfortunately right at the end of the scene we see the killer lifting his knife to kill Hugh. Whilst Hugh is unaware.
