The process of manufacturing tyres
have evolved through the years
Goodyear‟s Sustainability Initiatives
Includes 4 areas:
• Fuel Saving Benefits
• Use of “Natural Materials”
• Environmentally friendly Processes
• “Suppliers” who promote green practices.
1. Fuel Saving Benefits
• Innovating and developing tyres that not only
benefits consumers but are also helpful to the
environment
• Compared to its own standard
Assurance brand tire, the Fuel
Max provides 27 percent less
rolling resistance.
• This equates to a 4%
improvement in highway fuel
economy.
• Standard fitment for new
Chevy Volt – GM‟s first electric
car
Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max
Goodyear Duraplus
• Proven to last up to 100,000 kms.
• Its new carcass incorporates a stronger fabric design that provides
less resistance to tire rotation, resulting in improved fuel economy
1. Fuel Saving Benefits
7 week test from June 4 to 22 July in Thailand show Duraplus lasts longer than competition in similar category
Disclaimer: Information is provided based on Goodyear Internal test on open roads in Thailand on 185/65R14 on Toyota Vios according to GTC*L test procedure
2. Use of Natural Materials
• These are essentially environmentally friendly materials
or compounds that are used in making the tyres to
replace synthetic/oil-based components
Bio-Tred Technology used in
Goodyear Eagle LS2000 - is
made from a new starch-based
filler material derived from corn
3. Environmentally Friendly Processes
• This relates to the processes and measures we use in our plants that help reduce or eliminate the environmental impact
– Zero Waste to Landfill where waste products are recycled.
– Solvent reduction to control and minimize solvent usage in the production process.
– Between Jan „07 to Jan „09 solvent usage was reduced by 59% !
– Goodyear Malaysia plant is ISO14001 certified - a testament of Goodyear Malaysia‟s commitment to a healthier Earth.
