OMM 2014gROWTH AND HERITAgE

OMM is growing. In 2012 OMM grew 44% and 2013 promises even better. Even more pleasing is that growth has been on our long standing lines as well as new products. Packs remain our largest category. OMM packs have evolved through years of feedback from top level adventure racers giving them unparalleled technical integrity. This year we are recognising this heritage by reintroducing traditional OMM colours back into our Packs. We still have a lot to learn from the early pioneers. OMM is also moving with the times. New fabrics reduce weights and improve function while a second sleeping bag will build on the success of the Mountain Raid. The sub 200g 3-layer Aether Smock exemplifies that the impossible is becoming possible and without having to sacrifice on important features for keeping competitors safe and comfortable on the mountain. Compatibility We move all seams away from rub points with

packs and avoid conflict with pockets where

possible. Latest technologies ensure seaming is

flat where needed and careful sizing of pockets to

accommodate essential maps, compasses, gels...

Fit and Motion Accurate fit creates better insulation, breathability

and minimises flapping fabric. However, you must

be free to do what you want to do. We use stretch

fabrics to give a closer, silent fit and abrasion

resistant materials where these are needed.

Layering Flexibility to use a limited number of garments

to generate a wide range of insulating and

weather responsive combinations is core to

being truly leanweight.

LeanWEIgHT

The right features at minimal weight for best

performance. OMM clothing must be light but

not at the expense of safety or function. OMM

eventers experience extreme conditions where

correct clothing is survival.

On The Move Accessibility Most of your kit will not need to be accessed

while moving. However, water, food, compass

and map are essential to keep at hand. Our

packs and clothing allow access to these key

items while still running.

Ventilation Temperature regulation is essential to minimise

perspiration and maximize comfort on endurance

events. Insulation layers needs to be adaptable

through ascent, descent, fast and slow.

To minimize lost time changing layers, OMM

clothing must vent – sleeves must pushed, long

zips open allowing the perspiration to escape

and fabrics must wick and breath.

LINK systemThe LINK system allows us to join OMM products from throughout the range in a modular system to create a pack that is unique to the user and tailored to travel, ski, climb or anything else. Through the use of LINK we can maximise accessibility to bottles, maps, ice equipment for improved on the move accessibility.

MultifunctionMinimal packs must make the best use of features to enable multiple function. To name a few; The Multisport Compressor (MSC) gives compression and load carry; the Duomat is both a back system and a sleep mat; The Universal Gear Rail (UGR) carries a wide range of equipment from axes to snowshoes and beyond.

On The Move Accessibility Most equipment is only needed when stopping however waterproofs, water, food, compasses and maps etc. are essential to keep at hand for easy on the move access.

Strength OMM Leanweight chassis system and technical fabric selections provides strength at minimal weight for lean packs that can be depended on in uncompromising situations.

UgR

LEANWEIgHT We don’t all use our OMM packs in the same way or for the same things and the features we require vary accordingly. For example, some people use a hydration bladder; some people use bottles. OMM specially creates parts of the pack that can be removed to produce a personally optimized leanweight product. Eventers can also get their scissors out and remove excess features in the hunt to save further grams without invalidating guarantees in other areas of the pack. Our quoted LEANWEIgHT is the pack weight less all removable parts but before scissors.

StabilityPacks need to be stable for comfort while active. Harness attachment and compression systems keep the load tight to the back and stable while running geometry stops excess movement on the back.

HydrationAll Packs are designed for endurance sports so water carry and accessibility is essential. This is standardised on OMM packs to allow under or over arm access to bladders and multiple bottle carry positions.
