RIDING REEL MOWER

The Tri-King 1471 riding reel mower hasbeen designed by Jacobsen engineers toprovide efficient mowing of formal turf areasin an economical machine. A hydrostaticdrive system and rear-wheel steering givethe Tri-King maneuverability while three 26-inch free-floating reels impart a quality cutdown to 3/B-inch. The reels automaticallystop when the operator raises them with afoot-actuated hydraulic lift-and automat-ically start again when lowered.

The distribution of the weight over the frontdrive-wheels and rear steering wheel cre-ates optimal hill climbing ability. Automotive-style drum brakes will hold the mower ona 30 percent slope. A direct-drive tractionpump eliminates slippage, adjustment andreplacement associated with belts.

The triplex mower's maneuverability andease of operation enable fast, precise cut-ting of fairways, collars, tees and sportsfields.

The mower is powered by a 14 hp Koh-ler cast iron engine with electronic ignition.JACOBSEN TEXTRONCircle 143 on Postage Free Card

ARMYWORM CONTROLQftanol2 Insecticide is now labelled for

control of armyworms, fall armyworms andcutworms by commercial applicators on golfcourses, industrial grounds and parkways. The product is recognized for its long-termeffectiveness against surface and soil in-sects attacking turf.

The insects have been added to an ex-isting list of pests. Surface insects on thelabel include sod webworm larvae, chinchbugs, billbugs, flea beetles and hyperodesweevils. Among the soil insects are white

grub larvae, bill larvae, crane fly larvae, molecrickets and fire ants.

The manufacturer recommends that thematerial be watered into the turf thoroughly

REEL- TYPE IRRIGATOR

Almost any water source can be used bythe Bauer Rainboy to irrigate more than twoacres in a single setting. The sprinkler standand the necessary length of hose are eas-ily unwound from the reel trailer. As the unitoperates, the hose pulls the sprinkler backto the reel. After completing a strip up to500 feet long and 200 feet wide, it shutsoff automatically.

Qne person can set up the Rainboy orprepare it for transport. Most small main-tenance vehicles can pull it from site to site. The unit can be stored in an area 5 feet by12 feet.BAUER USACircle 145 on Postage Free Card

SCOREBOARDCONTROLLER

A single solid-state controller can nowoperate any Daktronics scoreboard regard-less of the sport. The All Sports 2000 is acompact, rain-proof controller that can beused to replace older, single-sport con-trollers. The unit comes with all new Dak-

tronics scoreboards. The operator places an overlay for the

particular sport on top of the sealed-membrane keyboard and enters a two-digitcode to tell the controller which sport is beingscored. A liquid crystal display prompts theoperator through the initial set-up processand verifies all data that appears on thescoreboard.

The new console controls football, basket-ball, baseball and several other sports. Itcan also tie into shot clock displays forbasketball. The simple keyboard and dis-play help reduce scorekeeper error.DAKTRONICS, INC.Circle 146 on Postage Free Card

GREENS AERATOR

Ryan has made so many improvementsto its classic Greensaire II, it gave it a newname, the Greensaire 24. The new aera-tor is faster, has simpler maintenance proce-dures and its major wear parts have beenbeefed up for longer life and greater relia-bility.

The Greensaire 24 can cultivate an aver-age green in roughly a half hour removing36 cores per square foot in a two-inch bytwo-inch pattern. Four tine sizes, from 1/4-inch to SIB-inch in diameter, are availableto fit differing soil types and conditions.

Many major components have beenredesigned to extend operating life and tosimplify maintenance. Push rod bearingsare now self-lubricating, the hydraulic systemhas been simplified and a new type of clutchand brake mechanism have been added.Bearing and seal designs have beenchanged to reduce friction and wear. Thepush rod and slide mechanism as well asthe chain sprocket have been heat-treatedand reinforced to extend their life.

Even an automotive-type muffler has beenadded to reduce engine noise. Finally, ac-cess to components for maintenance hasbeen improved by the addition of a one-pieceside panel.CUSHMAN·RYANCircle 147 on Postage Free Card

FLAIL REACH MOWER

I! th~ park, campus or golf course you~atntatn has a large amount of sloping road-Sides, lake shore area or fences that requirelabor-intensive hand cutting, the Beaver FlailCutter can increase your maintenance ef-ficiency. Attached to any 20-35 hp compacttractors with category 1 three-point hitch and540 r.p.m. PTa, the hydraulic arm and flailmower enable the operator to mow utilityturf as far as nine feet from the tractor.

The cutterhead floats and pivots automat-ically with the angle of the ground. Safetybrakes stop the cutting rotor within five se-conds. Flail cutters are also less likely toeject material from the cutterhead than rotarymachines.

Left- or right-hand models are available. The flail head is interchangeable with asickle-bar head for trimming shrubbery andhedges.

LANDSCAPE SEEDER

The importance of overseeding to the den-sity and condition of heavily-used sports turfis rapidly gaining recognition. The Tye land-scape seeder can do the job quickly andprovide a high percentage of seed germi~nation.42 sportsTURF

The seeder, available in either 48- or 64-inch models, meters the appropriate amountof seed through internal chutes into close-ly spaced grooves in the soil and then rollsthe seedbed. An optional "star roll" scari-fies poorly prepared seedbeds and pene-trates surface crusts and thatch.

The machine is driven by the packer roller. It can be attached to any small tractor withthree-point hitch.THE TYE COMPANYCircle 139 on Postage Free Card

PORTABLE pH METERTurf managers can obtain instant read-

ings of soil acidity or alkalinity with Scotts'Model 100 portable pH meter. Turfgrass-es and turf maintenance chemicals performbest in soil that is slightly acidic. Soils thatbecome too acidic or alkaline can increasethe cost of maintenance. Without a pHmeter, the turf manager has to take soil sam-ples, send them to a laboratory and waitfor results.

The meter, less than six inches wide, hasa heavy-gauge aluminum case, solid-stateelectronics and insulated circuitry to with-stand conditions in the field. One set of bat-teries will provide nearly 300 hours of test-ing. The plastic-bodied electrode is less sus-ceptible to damage than standard all-glasselectrodes. All connectors and controls areconveniently located on the front panel forease of operation.O.M. SCOTT & SONSCircle 140 on Postage Free Card

COMPACT SPRAYER

The cargo beds of small turf vehicles andall terrain vehicles (ATVs) may be small, but

not too small for Dethmers' compact spray-ers. Now an economical ATV can becomemore than a runabout by installing a preas-sembled spray system, including pump, tank, boom and hand-gun. Turf areas thatwere once too small for liquid programs cannow be treated economically.

The compact sprayers feature polyethy-lene tanks from 10 to 55 gallons, electricdiaphragm pump or gasoline-engine po-wered roller pump, custom mounting brack-ets, spray booms up to 21 feet wide, hoseand hand-gun. The unit provides all the ac-curacy and convenience of large sprayersfor smaller facilities, such as stadiums, grasstennis courts, bowling greens and smallparks.

Spray systems provide turf managers withthe ability to use products that are most ef-fective in liquid form, such as foliar fertiliz-ers, fungicides and postemergence her-bicides.DETHMERS MANUFACTURING CO.Circle 141 on Postage Free Card

RACE TRACK GROOMER

As the value of racing horses goes up,so does the importance of rock-free racetracks, training tracks and exercise areas. One rock hidden in the track dirt can causea valuable horse to become lame. TheHarley Track Sanitizer can remove the threatof a rock injury from a typical one-mile-longdirt track in under six hours.

As a tractor pulls the sanitizer forward,a strip of dirt is lifted from the track and fedby conveyor into a tumbler/screener whichremoves all objects larger than 1/2 inch indiameter. The processed dirt is thenredeposited onto the track. The belts andtumbler are powered by the power-take-offfrom the tractor.

The Track Sanitizer eliminates scrapingand hauling dirt from the track to a stationaryscreener and back. It is adaptable for groom-ing training ovals, paddocks, arenas or anyother soft dirt sports surface.GLENMAC, INC.Circle 142 on Postage Free Card
