TRACTOR-ATTACHEDGRADER

The MT/Comboplane enables sports turfmanagers to scrape, scarify, level and fin-ish with one unit. Designed for three-pointhitch tractors, the unit leaves a fine, smoothgrade on virtually any type of soil.

The Comboplane consists of a frontscraper with side soil retainers that controlsgrade. Behind the scraper is an hydraulically-controlled scarifier to penetrate and lossensoil. Following the scarifier are three plan-ning beams for leveling. The final finishingattachments are optional.

Made of heavy gauge steel, the com-boplanes come in three widths, 5, 61/2 and8-feet. A narrow two-inch-wide trench is all thatis needed to install Turf Drain, a prefabri-cated composite drainage line for inade-quately drained turf areas. Developed bytwo engineers as a replacement for Frenchdrains, the thin polystyrene core is surround-ed by a geotextile fabric. Hydrostatic pres-sure forces water through the filter fabricinto the void created by the waffle-like plasticform. As long as the line is provided a onepercent slope, the silt-free water flows freelyto the outlet point.

Gravel backfill is not required; sand ornative soil is used to backfill the narrowtrenches. Turf will grow back over the two-inch surface cut without the need for sod-ding. This enables a turf manager to cor-

Smaller tractors with 15 or more horse-power can operate Glenmac's five-foot dou-ble roller landscape rake. The PTO-drivenunit pulverizes seed beds or base paths asit removes rocks, roots, and trash. The resultis a soft open surface free of stones anddebris. All debris is windrowed by the rakefor easy removal.

MOISTURE SENSINGCONTROLLER

You don't have to leave the controller tomake field adjustments or install probes atvalve locations with Griswold's Scanex. Allmoisture monitoring information and adjust-ments can be made at the controller.

The electronic sensors are stainless steelalloy probes connected to the controller withtwo #14 UF direct burial irrigation wires. Lowvoltage AC signals provide the controllerwith the necessary information on root zonemoisture levels.

Additional flexibility and control are theleading features of three new turf irrigationcontrollers from Irri-Trol. The MC Series pro-vides solid state accuracy in controlling 12to 24 stations. The 23-key panel can oper-ate three fully independent programs plusa syringe program. Up to 12 starts per dayfor up to ten hours and one syringe startfor nine minutes are possible with the con-trollers.

Water budgets can be changed by in-structing the controller to either increase
