VERSA TILE IRRIGATIONNETWORK

An IBM XT personal computer is the hubof operation for Toro's new irrigation andlandscape network. This central computercoordinates operation of up to 800 satel-lite controllers for irrigation, lighting, or pump-ing by two-way communication. Utilizingfeedback from satellites and input onweather, geography and agronomics, theNetwork 8000 can save energy, water, laborand money by adjusting programs for upto 25,600 stations.

The personal computer is programmedto be easy to operate and includes a matrixprinter, color monitor and light pen. It canbe used for irrigation and, business func-tions simulataneously. The central program-mer can operate any station, set the run-ning time, assign it to any program and setup to three repeats for any station.

The stand-alone satellites receive, storeand send all commands generated from thecentral computer. They report back to thecentral computer key factors such as pro-gram status, station failure or changes atthe satellite. The solid-state satellites con-trol up to 32 stations, each with up to three

electric valve-in-head solenoids. The versatility and extra control provided

by the Network 8000 allow more preciseoperation of irrigation and other landscapeand business functions.TORO IRRIGA TION DIVISIONCircle 119 on Postage Free Card

"..PRODUCT UPDATE

Engineers concentrated on comfort andsound levels as well as stability, servica-bility and durability. The operator's compart-ment is isolation-mounted to the main frameto reduce noise and vibration. Controls andgauges are designed and located for oper-ator convenience.

Extra stability of the 416 is provided byan overcenter backhoe combined with aload-sensing hydraulic system. The back-hoe bucket rotates 194 degrees and candig deep on vertical faces.

A one-piece, welded, integral chassis dis-tributes digging stresses on the frame andnot on the drive line. A Perkins 4-236 pow-ers the backhoe loader and a four-speedfully synchronized transmission with torqueconverter drives it. The 416's hydraulic sys-tem provides maximum dig forces at slowspeeds without excessive engine lug fornearly 30 percent greater fuel efficiency.CA TERPILLARCircle 318 on Postage Free Card

TURF CONTROLLER

Additional flexibility and control are theleading features of three new turf irrigationcontrollers from Irri-Trol. The MC Series pro-vides solid state accuracy in controlling 12to 24 stations. The 23-key panel can oper-ate three fully independent programs plusa syringe program. Up to 12 starts per dayfor up to ten hours and one syringe startfor nine minutes are possible with the con-trollers.

Water budgets can be changed by in-structing the controller to either increase

or decrease by percentage the wateringtimes on all stations. The display tells theoperator the amount of watering time reomaining on any station and the total timefor all stations. These times can be reducedor increased from one to 255 percent to fi1water consumption to budgets.

Stations can be tested individually, byselected station, or as a group. Threemodels, of 12, 18, and 24 stations, are avail-able now for new systems or updating oldersystems.IRRI· TROL MFG. INC.Circle 319 on Postage Free Card

SPRINKLER CART

Because of its light construction, theBauer Rainboy Automatic Sprinkler Cart isespecially well suited for watering golfcourses, playgrounds, football and base-ball fields, school and university grounds, parks and cemeteries.

Its large wheels and high efficiency withlow water pressure make it an excellent ir-rigation system for small growers and hobbyfarmers, helping them save both time andlabor.

All moving parts are secured behind pro-tective covers for safe, unattended opera-tion. The retraction speed gauge and tur-bine efficiency tachometer enable the oper-ator to vary its watering rate to suit existingconditions.

The sprinkler's automatic cart pick-up dou-bles as a wheelbarrow-style manual trans-port. Its handy tow hitch and "easy roll"weight-balanced tires make it extremely easyto move and handle with a tractor.

The Rainboy's patented "mini-turbine"drive has proven extremely efficient in low-pressure and low-flow applications. Becausethere is no open flow discharge, operatorscan avoid the excessive puddling normal-ly found with bellows drive carts.BAUER U.S.A.Circle 320 on Postage Free Card
