SCOPE:

• The content of this document will address the mechanical, electrical and environmental requirements for the rechargeable XR41 Size 312, 32mAh battery.

GENERAL:

• The XR41 size 312, 32mAh rechargeable silver zinc button cell battery is intended to be charged using the ZPower proprietary charging algorithm. It is intended to be used in place of the size 312 zinc air battery as applicable.

SPECIFICATIONS

Identifier Name Description

PRS 1.1-1 Size The battery must stay within the current ANSI C18.1M, Part 1-2015 maximum dimensions during normal operating conditions over the specified battery life. Please see Figure 1.

PRS 1.1-2 Temperature Operational: 0˚C to +50˚C Storage: -40˚C to + 50˚C

PRS 1.1-3 Voltage Minimum discharge voltage: 1.2V Maximum charge voltage: 2.0V

PRS 1.1-4 Capacity The battery shall have a nominal capacity of 32 mAh with a rated drain rate equivalent to a nominal discharge rate of C/16 at or above 15oC:

Shelf Life

The fully charged cell shall retain 80% of nominal capacity, recover within 90% of nominal capacity within the first 2 cycles, and 95% of nominal capacity within first 5 cycles at rated current drain after 6 months of storage at or below room temperature.

PRS 1.1-6 Humidity testing The battery shall not exhibit any corrosion or leakage after exposure to 40˚C, 90% RH (non-condensing) for 21 days.

PRS 1.1-7 Chemical Compatibility

The battery shall not be damaged by household solvents (soap, shampoo, lotion, hair spray and cosmetics) encountered in daily usage.

PRS 1.1-8 Design life The battery shall deliver a minimum of 300 charge/discharge and maintain >80% rated capacity.

Manufacturer (ZPOWER) Chemistry (Ag Zn) Polarity symbol on positive side of battery (+)

PRS 1.1-10 Impedance The DC resistance shall be less than 25 Ohms during the battery’s design life when discharged at the rated current drain defined in PRS 1.1-4.

PRS 1.1-11 Peak Drain The maximum continuous discharge rate for the XR41 cell while maintaining a >80% rated capacity is C/8. The maximum pulsed discharge rate is defined in PRS 1.1-4.

Self-discharge

The battery shall have a self-discharge rate of less than 3% of nominal capacity per month at room temperature.

PRS 1.1-13 Cell Charge Time Maximum charge time of 8 hours from a fully discharged state at room temperature.

Leakage/Battery Seal

The battery shall not leak or vent under normal operating conditions (temperature, storage, discharge, charge, accidental shorting, shipping); leakage is defined as mass loss > 0.5%
