Udder Singe by Activon

Cows with Clean Udders Produce Quality Milk

Designed to help improve overall milk quality and eliminate clipping, singeing removes long hair which offers many benefi ts including:

• Quality milk — helps control mastitis and lower SCC. • Makes pre- and post-dipping more effective.• More environmentally friendly — with short hair, udders stay clean - less dirt and manure.

How it WorksThe cow never knows there is work being done on her because of the low temperature of the fl ame and the quick pass of the wand.

Milk Quality Tools For Mastitis PreventionUdder Hair Removal by Flaming or Singeing by Zen Miller, UW-Extension Outagamie County Agriculture AgentPrinted in UW-Extension The Dairy Partner June 2008 Issue.

Hair removal is a vital process to improve udder cleanli-ness, reduce bacteria and make udder prep easier in the parlor. The fastest way to remove udder hair is to singe the udder on a regular basis. This process is easy and can save time in prepping cows by helping keep the ud-ders cleaner.

Process of Singeing Udder Hair:1. Remove any organic bedding from the udder that might catch on fi re in the process. 2. Pass the wand under the udder about 2-4” from the udder fl oor. 3. Have cotton rag or glove on so you can put out any hot spots or rub off the hair. 4. Move quickly from cow to cow in the parlor.

Develop a schedule for hair removal. Flaming uddersshould reduce long hair from getting in the teat cups, reduce bacterial contamination, improve udder preptime and quality, and is a humane way to reduce hairon the udder.

Rodent Control Herd Hoof HealthA Year-Round Rotation Program Keeps Resistance In CheckRodents cost you money. Agricultural facilities are at-tractive to rats and mice because of the abundant supply of feed and water — everything rodents need to thrive. Every year rodents cost producers billions of dollars due to disease transmission, feed loss and structural dam-age on operations. Stop this drain on your resources by establishing a year-round rodent control system. Contact ANIMART for a complete arsenal of Motomco Baits and Bait Stations for safe, effective rodent control.
