Safepro2 Safetraxx Saferidge

Safeside KingZip Walkways

Safepro2 is an innovative personal fall protection system, designed to protect both the worker and the roof to which the system is fixed. Safepro2 comprises a high-strength stainless steel cable, supported on energy-absorbing roof anchor posts.

Safetraxx is a robust and discreet personal fall protection system. Safetraxx comprises a high-grade, precision-extruded, aluminium rail, designed to be fixed in a variety of different roof locations.

Saferidge is a unique personal fall protection system that comprises a high-grade precision-extruded aluminium rail that is factory- fitted to a metal ridge capping. A bespoke fabrication for each roof, Saferidge is designed to dissipate fall arrest forces across a wide roof area, minimising potential damage to the roof in a fall arrest event.

Safeside is a cost effective collective fall protection system for flat roof or suspended ceiling applications. This flexible guard rail system provides high levels of fall protection to the perimeter of the roof, and is suitable for accessible areas of any size and layout.

Kingspan aluminium walkways prevent roof panel damage caused by foot traffic, by allowing safe, convenient access to and across the roof. Designed to complement KingZip Standing Seam System, the walkways are fixed to the roof profile without penetration of the sheeting, maintaining the KingZip system integrity.

16 | Kingspan FSEL

Where personal fall protection systems are fixed directly to the roof, i.e. not fixed to the primary structure, energy-absorbing anchor posts / rails should be installed to reduce the load applied to the roof in a fall arrest event.

Rail-based anchor systems can be used to dissipate loads across a larger area of the roof.

In addition to absorbing energy, anchor posts should also deploy so that fall arrest loads are applied as close to the roof surface as possible. This reduces turning moments in the post, thus minimising tensile forces in the fixings and twisting of the roof panel. For roof slopes greater than 15°, rail-based anchor systems should be used, as rails are not prone to deployment due to incidental loading such as pulling on ropes while walking up or down the roof slope. For all system types, the fixings used should be proven on the specific roof type to which they are installed.

How it worksBy optimising the application and design of Kingspan Day-Lite polycarbonate rooflights, we can maximise the benefit of natural light, reducing energy demand and improving building comfort levels.

Research shows that more exposure to natural light enhances the productivity, safety and wellbeing of a building’s occupants. Yet many of today’s commercial and industrial buildings are still equipped with inefficient High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting, that provides a poor quality of light that is often dull and yellowish.

With the introduction of Kingspan Smart-Lite, our highly efficient intelligent LED technology, a natural quality of light is created, replicating the midday sunlight in terms of colour temperature and vibrancy. Furthermore, lighting energy costs are minimised, typically offering a reduction of 50% when compared to traditional lighting sources.

Extending our daylighting range, and continuing a tradition of sustainable innovation, we are now able to complement our translucent polycarbonate solutions with a range of intelligent LED lighting systems.

Each Kingspan Smart-Lite luminaire can include smart controls that react rapidly to changing environmental conditions. Automatic daylight dimming ensures the most efficient use of natural daylight, whilst occupancy sensors provide precise zonal control, so that areas are only lit when required. This intelligent technology can typically provide an additional energy saving of 40%.

With the addition of Kingspan Energy Rooftop Solar PV, we can eliminate the residual lighting energy demand, achieving or surpassing our ZEL objective.

Scan the code to watch our ZEL animation.

ZEL offers a unique blend consisting of high quality daylight solutions, intelligent LED lighting and fully programmable automatic controls.

Smoke Vent

Product Portfolio | 51

All good things come in threes: As well as providing natural daylight and fresh air, ESSMANN skylight domes and arcade rooflights also make buildings safer. Their integrated smoke and heat extraction systems protect people and property from what can often be the disastrous effects of smoke and fire. In the event of a fire, components on the roof and facade, which are controlled either electronically or pneumatically, open up to allow smoke, heat and toxic fumes to escape. Escape routes are kept clear, enabling the fire service to carry out its work effectively.

The installation of smoke and heat extraction systems is subject to stringent requirements and legal regulations, which are stipulated in the relevant standards and building codes. Different methods of installation are also available, depending on the type of building in question and its architecture. Our specialist consultants work closely with the customer to calculate and plan a customised concept that will be sure to provide maximum reliability and safety.

Kingspan Smoke, Heat Extraction and Ventilation Systems

Consistent modularity, full service and innovative solutions for the automation of buildings – our system approach to the benefit of our customers. Because: We see the big picture.

As a group of companies, we have bundled our experience, the extensive know-how of our employees and the core competences of ESSMANN, STG-BEIKIRCH, MSG and ECODIS in order to offer our customers a unique form of added value: engineering, production, installation and maintenance in the fields of light, air, safety and energy efficiency for the building envelope from a single source.

In this context, the central keystones of our business strategy are ESSsystem, ESSmatic and ESSservice – a unique chain of products and services around the building envelope for flat roofs in an industrial environment and for the façades of commercial and administrative buildings.

ESSsystem combines the product segments of ESSMANN and STG-BEIKIRCH into a single set of modules. Our system solutions comprising skylight domes, rooflights, drives and control systems are optimally coordinated, thereby offering our customers a high level of security and reliability in terms of planning, investments and implementation.

ESSmatic is based on our core competences in the fields of software and control engineering and forms the foundation for automated building envelopes and the safeguarding of escape and emergency routes within administrative buildings. Based on standardised modular systems, our system specialists develop optimum overall solutions with matching service concepts and interfaces towards the automation and control system of the building customised to fulfil any project-specific requirements.

ESSservice is our unique service portfolio and the most comprehensive company-owned service network on the market.

A major constituent of our added value philosophy is ESSplan. ESSplan is our central system platform for reliable, quick and automatic data exchange with planning engineers, operators, sales partners and users. Light, air, energy and safety calculations in line with the latest standards and guidelines guarantee error-free, quick planning. Validated configurations ensure the safe combination of products, and the optimum provision of documents guarantees that all of the required information is available at the right time and place.

Our philosophy: We See The Big Picture.
