Flock

i have designed and made a series of large laser cut lighting inspired by starling flock silhouettes. I am fascinated by the bird’s organic and fluid forms. My lighting uses the process of laser cutting slices of MDF and acrylic and layering each slice to form a completed light. This process allows for the combination of the organic form with the harsh staggered effect of the material.

chessington

i have designed a range of christmas decorations and lanterns for Chessington Safari Park Hotel and restaurant. This project involved undertaking my own research into the chessington brand and style so that the range complimented their house style and branding.

Gardenesque

I have designed a sophisticated bistro set for the company Gardenesque. I have used a simplistic, classic frame for the chair and table base. I have created an arts and crafts style mosaic in neutral colours that could be used as the table top. I think this would add a traditional, refreshing charm.

i have also designed two plant pots in a similar style to compliment the bistro set.

The first pot is a rectangle three tiered design that will save space for consumers with smaller gardens but is big enough to create a ‘little project’. The plant pot could be used as a container for pre potted plants for someone with a busier lifestyle.

The second pot based on the same design princible but can be hung over a balcony.

stack

This is an experimental project using different materials. I have incor-perated plywood, acrylic and cardboard. The differnt combinations of process and materials creates different lighting affects.

The concept for these lights was to create a ‘mix and match’ lamp. The lamo is made up of several sections linked together by magnets. This will allow the consumer to change the aethetics of the light by moving and assembeling the different sections. This will essentially give each light its own look and individualistic quality.

Glass

i have always been interested in incorperating glass in design and making products. As part of my degree I specialised in glass blowing which I combined with my interest in lighting.

Other Projects

Version 1.0 Rpayne Uckfield Late Night Shopping – Festive Lantern Hunt Design Concepts

In order to provide “common theming” across the event, we were keen to select a festive product type, which could then be personalised to suit the participating retailer. This brings continuity for participants as they search for the “object” and also engages the retailer as the object is very personal to their business.

With that in mind, we propose a Christmas snowflake base design which is approximately 30cm in diameter.

I attach two early design concepts for your review:

• Pizza Express – This prototype has been sampled in their brand colours/logo. It also features ingredients such as tomatoes and pasta etc.!

• AllSorts – This prototype features “all sorts”! It has cutlery, jigsaw pieces, sprays and flowers! So, a bit of a mixed bag!

Both designs currently have a number featured within the design, but this would be an alphabetical letter and would be decided once participating retailer numbers have been confirmed and competition details further defined.

Retailers wishing to participate would be contacted by our office and given an opportunity to provide some design input into their own snowflake.

Costs

As I am sure you can imagine, whilst the designs are quite impacting and bespoke, it is requiring a reasonable amount of internal design resources to achieve. We are very happy to donate the lion’s share of the effort required, but it would be good to take a small contribution out of the retailer fee to cover some of our costs.

We would also need to brand the reverse of the competition entry forms with details of our Christmas range in order to promote our range/brand.

If £20 is being charged, I would think that a 50/50 rev share would be fine. This would then cover c15% of our cost to deliver each one, and the reverse branding can justify us designing and printing the entry forms.
