Background

• Harrier compressors are manufactured by one of the most experienced compressor/pump manufacturers in the world

• For over 15 years Ningbo Huasheng Compressor Co. LTD has been providing private label compressors for many major brands in North America

• The new product launch is a collaboration with MJB Supply which is known for its expertise in supply chain management and a proven compressor manufacturer

• The result is a comprehensive line of quality products with unmatched support

Why Use An Air Compressor

• Professional automotive mechanics and builders use air tools because they deliver more torque and rpm’s than electric-powered tools and they are lighter.

• Consumers use air compressors to tackle projects just like the pro’s. Projects that involve wood working, automotive maintenance and spray painting are much easier with an air compressor

• Besides powering power tools, they can be used for the following: To inflate tires, pool floats and other inflatable’s To force water out during irrigation system, swimming pool and hot tub

shutdowns

• Commercial enterprises such as dental offices, dry cleaners, barber shops and car washes use compressed air

The Heart of a Air CompressorThe Pump

As the piston goes down, a vacuum is created above it, this allows outside air to push open the inlet valve and fill the area above the piston. As the piston moves up, the air above it compresses, holds the inlet shut and pushes the discharge valve open. The air moves from the discharge poet to the tank. With each stroke, More air enters the tank and pressure rises.

Common Air Compressor TypesOil Lubed or Oil-Less

• Oil Lubed Most reciprocating compressors are oil type. Moving pistons generate friction

and heat. To protect the pump, some type of lubricant is needed. They do require regular maintenance and they should be operated on a level surface. The benefits to an oil lubed compressor are: much longer life and a much quieter machine. They are slightly more costly to build and that results in a slightly higher retail. Applications such as nail guns, automotive work and tire inflating use this type compressor.

• Oil-Less This type is usually found on lower horse powered units. They have a Teflon

lining to protect the pump. The Teflon gets hot and usually wears out after continuous usage. Applications that require no oil such as spray painting, fine wood working, dental office and food handling use oil-less compressors.

Popular Types Of Air Compressors

• Portable “Hot Dog” Style This style usually has a 1HP or less with a 1-2 gallon tank This can be carried to and from the application

• Portable “Hot Dog” Style With Wheels This style usually has a 2 HP or greater with a 5+ gallon

tank The unit have wheels and handle for maneuverability • Portable Pancake Style

This style has a round flat 1-2 HP, up to 6 gallons tank This can be carried to and from the application

Popular Types of Air Compressors con’t

• Twin Stack This style has 1-2 HP with two (2) gallon tanks, stacked on

each other Good unit for most all air tools

• Portable Vertical “Garage Mate” Style This unit usually has a 2 HP or higher with a 10 gallon tank or

more Most units have wheels and handle for maneuverability They take up less space and handle all air tools

Page 9: Product Knowledge Slides 11 11 11

• Stationary Vertical “Shop Compressor” This unit usually has 3+ HP and a 60 – 80 gallon tank Most work on 240v and have no wheels Good for a high volume shop

• Gas “Wheelbarrow” Style This style usually has 5 –8 HP and two 4 gallon tanks Very popular for the job site framing or roofing contractor Capable of running multiple tools at one time because of

their high CFM’s

CFMCubic Foot per Minute

This is the most important number to look at when choosing an air compressor.

Each device or tool has certain CFM requirements to operate at full performance.

To the right is an example of CFM usage:

To be sure the customer buys the right Compressor to meet his tools CFM needs, Multiply the greatest CFM requirement by: 1.5. i.e. 13 cfm x 1.4 = 19.5. .

Tool CFM

Ratchet 2-5

Die Grinder 4-6

Framing Gun 2.2

Spray Gun 2-4

Purchase a compressor that delivers at least 19.5 CFM.

PSI & HP

• PSI This is a measurement for air pressure, measured in Pounds per

Square Inch. Most air tools are manufactured to operate best at 90 PSI.

• HP Horse Power is the measurement of the power of the motor or

engine. Most compressor motors range from 1HP to 7HP. Many lower end brands overstate their horse power to mislead the

customer. If the unit has a quality pump, a lower HP can deliver plenty of

CFM

The most important numbers to pay attention to are CFM and PSI

Power Sources

• Electric Most popular, least expensive and low maintenance

• Gas Ideal for commercial and job site applications They are louder and they must be used outdoors

• Generators The most common source of power, especially on the job

site

Generator Facts

• Generators Lead the Charge Nothing gets started on the job site till the generator is

running

• Choose the Right Unit Determine the total wattage of the tools being used

• Running and Start Wattage Motors can require up to 4 times as much power to start than

they need to run

• Location, Location Never run the generator in enclosed space Position on a flat surface at least 3 feet away from a building

Page 20: Product Knowledge Slides 11 11 11

Generator Facts

• Fueling Never add fuel to a running generator They get very hot while running

• Oil Oil is the lifeblood of any engine Check often and change after the first 20 hours of operation

• Air filter Generators run in dusty environments Clean the filter often
