One of these “curiosities” is a rare andunusual tree found only in the North East Coastal region of New South Wales.It is called Melaleuca Alternifolia or the Tea Tree.

Tea Tree Oil is the valuable essential oil found in the leaves of this tree.

Originally discovered by the aborigines, hundreds of years ago, theyused it for it’s antiseptic properties to heal burns, tooth problems, wounds and bites.

Captain James Cook named this essential oil Tea Tree oil when he first visited Australiain the 18th century. Then in 1925 Dr. A. Penfold, an Australian Government Chemist proved that100% pure Melaleuca Alternifolia oil was 11 to 13 times stronger as an antiseptic than carbolic acid.
