MOHOI (Morotai Home Indonesia) is an Indonesian design company that focuses on home & lifestyle product, led by a team of young talents with a passion for promoting and preserving Indonesian local heritage through design and material choices.

After graduated from ITB Bandung, Rosyid began his professional career as interior designer. He designed and developed products for clients and at the same time built his own hand-tufted rugs business, which he managed very well until today.

With handful of experiences and after numerous collaborations with many international and local designers, including a number of projects involving local craftsmen, in 2014 Rosyid decided to explore a variety of natural bamboo materials available in Indonesia and incorporate them into contemporary and futuristic design. The process involved deep and detailed calculations for structural processing. His approach received nods from fellow designers and is considered one of the factors that brought Indonesia to the attention of international design communities.

Aware of his responsibility in maintaining a sustainable environment, Rosyid realized that he needed to pay serious attention not only to the materials and the work, but also to how his work can positively affect the community. Using human-based approach, MOHOI adopted technology and local knowledge in each of its creative process. To Rosyid, the ability to blend the diverse local wisdom of Nusantara with the smart design concept, and present it encased in the latest technology features, is the essence of success.

We traveled across our Archipelago, explored the deep of forest and met with local artisans in our journey to find the best solution & materials that will allow us to become successful socio-entrepreneur.

In our process & designs, we extensively experimented in minimalist design principle to create an aesthetically pleasing product that is great in function – biomimicry design – that is influenced by the nature itself.
