• Get their energy directly from the sun!• Use photosynthesis to create food for

themselves using the sun’s energy.• Can’t move!• Also called AUTOTROPHS: makes their own

food

Consumers

• Get their energy by eating plants or other animals

• Also called HETEROTROPHS: must acquire energy from other organisms
