Meet Our OrthodontistDr. Ana Urdaneta M.Sc.Ortho F.R.C.D.(C)

We are excited to introduce Dr. Ana Urdaneta to our practice. A specialist in Orthodontics, she joined our practice last summer.

Dr. Ana was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where she completed a Bachelor of Science and graduated from dental school with honours, at the top of her class (Magna Cum Laude). She obtained a Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics at Intercontinental University in Mexico City in 2006 and was privileged to have received her specialty Certification in Orthodontics at the University of Toronto where she is now a clinical instructor in the Department of Orthodontics.

Bringing a wealth of experience with her from her time in private practice, Dr. Ana provides a variety of treatment options for both children and adults to correct crooked or crowded teeth and malocclusions (bad bites) using conventional and clear braces, including Invisalign®.

Dr. Ana is kind, friendly, fantastic with kids (and adults!), and has a very gentle touch. She is married with a young family, speaks English and Spanish, and is an avid Blue Jays fan! She is available to see patients on Fridays.

can be a healthy motivator, but sometimes the accompanying brain-chatter will take a nasty toll on our sleep … hour after hour … night after night. Here are a few tips to help you slumber with success.

l Get regular frequent exercise. Only 3 hours per week can make a difference!

l Keep the same bedtime and wake-up time every day. Don’t deviate on weekends.

l Wind down. Avoid devices with blue-screen glow.

l Try relaxation exercises like deep breathing, visualization, or meditation.

l Be patient, practice letting go, and allow your body to relax. Sleep will soon be within reach.

Pear PearlsStimulating your saliva production can help

reduce the buildup of plaque deposits, reducing your risk for cavities. Pears stimulate saliva production plus they contain a significant amount of water which, when chosen as a snack over highly acidic foods, will help reduce the risk of enamel damage. When you need “that little sweet” after a meal, nothing beats a pear.

Peel and cut pears into spears & place in a microwavable dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Fill base with water a quarter of the way up the pears. Microwave until tender – about 3 minutes. Serve on your favorite frozen yogurt or drizzle with mashed raspberries!
