The list of responsibilities of the Group and Area Chairs / Vice-Chairs, as well as the election procedure was distributed and is maintained by the Group Chair
Leadership of Group 12 and Areas 12a and 12b is in place
area 12 b chair resignation
The new leadership mandate to the Fall of 2000 in order toallow implementation and consolidation of the new structure (LA ‘97)
proposal to move Group election to 1999
Champions for future Areas 12c and 12d have been identified (CH ‘97, LA’97, NO ’98)

Group DL survey has identified a the number of people with interest in this field - DL contains identifier for each area / future area
1999 Dallas Topical Conference has one /two session for each of the future areas
2000 Atlanta Topical Conference has three session for Technology Transfer
2000 LA has one session for Technology Transfer
Two Champions for each of the future Areas 12c and 12d
