Procedures• Procedures are the things we do during the day and how we

do them.• Everything that we do has a specific way to do it properly.• You will find procedures everywhere. They are in the

classroom, in the halls, at the lunchroom, and even recess.• Procedures are a way we always do something.• Every single one of us wants to be great and do things well.

By following the procedures you learn how to do things successfully.

• Procedures take practice and review. We will take time to study and practice all procedures.

Morning!

• Follow Hallway procedures on your way to our classroom.• Pick up your breakfast before you come to the room.• We always talk and greet in the hallway. We are always

silent when we enter the classroom.• Put all your papers you need for the teacher to look at in the

basket and put your folder in your Paper Drawer.• Put your stick in the Hot or Cold Lunch bin.• Collect a Daily Language/Math sheet and do the very best

work you can. We will go over all answers when we have morning meeting on the floor.

• Follow Working Harder sheet if you are finished.

DailyLanguage/Math

Sheets• Complete both sides of the Daily Language/Math Sheet to

the best of your ability.• Participate in the corrections during the morning meeting.• Make changes on any incorrect answers as we go over the

answers.• Keep your completed sheets in your Paper Drawer and turn

them in on the last day of the week for a grade.

Lining Upand Walking

in the hallway• Wait at your desk to be dismissed to the hallway.• We make two lines. One line is against the locker and the other is

against the wall.• We always keep our voices to a whisper because we want to respect

other student’s learning and we keep our hands to ourselves because the hallway is a busy place.

• We always face forward in line so we know when the line starts moving.

• We stay close together and keep the line from stretching out too long. Our class always sticks together.

• We will stop for drinks and bathroom breaks at other times. Make sure you and your classmates stay in line.

School Assembly

• When entering the assembly, pay attention to the teacher and your classmates. This can be a very busy (and somewhat confusing) time. Pay attention and know what you are doing. We will get seated as soon as possible.

• Once seated, feel free to look around, but keep your voice quiet and pay attention to when the assembly is going to begin.

• Quiet down right away and be respectful to those running the assembly. You can show respect by looking at the presenter and not the friends that are near you.

• At the end of the assembly, stay seated on the floor. There is no need to stand up. We may be one of the last classes to leave, so be patient and talk with your friends about what you just saw.

Centers

• You are at a center to learn and train your brain to do great things. Make sure that is what you and your classmates are doing. Breaks and recess are times to play around.

• Work together as a team to complete the center assignment.• Recess and breaks can get loud, Center time needs to be quiet to help

the learning process. Always keep your voices to a whisper.• Pay attention to the timer and know how much time you have. If you

finish a center assignment early, you may do something from Working Harder sheet.

• Always try your best! Neat handwriting and things spelled as best you can.

MorningBreak

• Morning Break is a time for you to talk with your friends, eat a snack, and make plans for the rest of the day.

• You should visit the washroom and get a drink during this time.• Great activities for Morning Break are: chatting with friends, snacking

and playing games.• Make sure your games are appropriate for the classroom and not

outside or gymnasium games.• The healthiest snacks come in their very own wrapper and have no

ingredients on a label (examples: apple, carrots, celery and strawberries).

• Pay attention to the timer and be back in your seat when the timer finishes.

Washroom

• A washroom is a place to take care of business. A gymnasium and playground are places to play games. Make sure you are taking care of business.

• Come back to the classroom as soon as possible. A classroom is a place to hang out and a bathroom is a place for business.

• Always use polite manners and say kind words to each other.

• Always wash your hands when you are done.

Before Lunchand Recess

• Take out your Daily Language/Math (Blue) Sheet and look over everyone’s sheet at your table. Did everyone complete it? If not, raise your hand and share with the teacher.

• When dismissed to the hall go the washroom and then wash your hands!

• Gather your cold lunch (if you are having cold lunch).• Line up with cold lunch along the lockers and hot lunch along the

wall.• Always follow Hallway Procedure!

During Lunchand Recess

• Always follow the directions of the adults supervising!

• Always remember that you are setting an example and making a reputation. Make sure you are acting outstanding and your image is positive!

• Enjoy your friends and keep your actions kind.• Run, play, and get good exercise!

After Lunchand Recess

• Be listening for the whistle to line up at the end of recess. You always want to be prompt so the whole class can return to school on time.

• You are excited after recess! Bring your voices to quiet talking when you enter.

• Put your outside clothes and toys back into your locker.• Visit the washroom and get a drink.• Remember you are excited after recess. Come into the room

and do not use your voice. This is a quiet time to unwind.• You may read something or complete work from your Paper

Drawer.

Take Home Folder,Mailbox &

Paper Drawer• Take Home Folder – Your Take Home Folder is used to bring papers back and

forth to school. At the end of the day you will put all the papers you worked on during the day, your Performance Sheet, and other papers from your Mailbox into your folder. While at home share with your loved ones. Bring notes from home and completed homework back in it. *Your Performance Sheet always stays in your Take Home Folder! Store this in your Paper Drawer.

• Mailbox – When you complete any work during the day and it is not suppose to go into the basket, put it in your mailbox. Only take things out of the mailbox at the end of the day.

• Paper Drawer – This is for papers only! You may use this drawer to keep track of your daily language/math sheets, assignments you are still working on, and art work you are still completing. The drawer should stay neat. At the end of the day look at everything in your paper drawer. Make sure you know why it is in there.

End of the Day

• First, work together as a group to clean your table. Return pencils and get new ones. Get a moist sponge and rag to clean table. Sit down and wait for your table to be dismissed.

• Second, once your table is dismissed you may take care of your own work. Take all papers in your mailbox and put into your take home folder. Go to your locker and collect your things. If needed, have teacher sign your Performance Sheet and change your color back to green.

• Third, come back to your seat and wait for final dismissal.• When you are dismissed, please stack your chair up on the

table.

PerformanceSheet

• Your Performance Sheet for the week will always stay in your Take Home Folder!

• At the end of the week you may store them in your Paper Drawer if you are working towards your Wings or you may recycle after your parents have signed off.

• You must fill out your performance sheet at the end of every day of school.

• The teacher needs to sign off on your performance sheet if you had your color changed during the day.

AtHome

• Nobody’s job ends once we are dismissed from school.• Your teacher is going to correct papers, prepare for a

successful next day, and arrange the classroom.• You need to complete your homework, share your Take

Home Folder with your family, and prepare for a successful next day.

• Give your family any papers that have been sent home.• Tell them what you learned at school (you learn every day!).

School Forest

• Always dress for the weather. It is fun to go out in the rain and cold, but it isn’t fun to get cold and wet.

• We go out into the school forest to LEARN. Make sure you prepare yourself for learning.

• Always go to the school forest with your forest journal and something to write with. To keep joining the class on school forest visits, you must complete your work.

• We go to the school forest to make observation. You will see and hear more things if we are quiet and paying attention.

• When the teacher circles you up, be ready to write things down in your journal and listen to instructions.

Wings

• Wings are earned through great effort, but come with great responsibility.

• Wings can walk through the hall before the rest of the class.

• Wings can be assigned special projects.• Wings are responsible for putting up the Library and

Reading table’s chairs at the end of the day.• Wings are held to a higher level and must

demonstrate the greatest of behavior.

FireDrill

• If a fire drill occurs when we are in the classroom: stop what you are doing and line up along the counter.

• Follow the teacher out the classroom and recess door.• We will line up in a straight line on the basketball court.• Stay in a line and remain quiet. The teacher needs to make

sure all the children are accounted for and needs to stay focused. This is very important for all of our safety.

TornadoDrill

• If drill occurs while we are in the classroom: stop what you are doing, line up along the counter, wait for teacher to bring class into the hallway.

• We will sit on the floor along the wall and lockers, but will stay away from all doors.

• Assume the tornado crouch (see picture) with your head facing the wall or locker.

• Stay in that position until the teacher gives you further instructions.

SubstituteTeacher

• You are expected to follow all directions even if they are different from how we do things.

• Only Wings are allowed to answer procedure questions for the substitute teacher.

• Your behavior should be better than a normal day.• Learn, do great things, and set a positive example

of what our class is like.
