Night by Night(Steely Dan Jazz / Vocal Jazz) Band 7.30pm – 10pmBrisbane’s best musicians pay tribute to one of the greatest jazz-rock fusion bands of all time: Steely Dan. The 10-piece Night by Night band of jazz heavyweights is bonded by a mutual appreciation of Fagan and Becker’s original masterpieces from the 1970s and 80s, walking the line between the memorable licks, mysterious narratives and sophisticated jazz harmony of Steely Dan’s classic tunes and cult favourites.

(Vocal Jazz) Band 7.30pm – 10pmKaren presents some of music’s most tender love songs, singing the torchiest of ballads, songs filled with passionate thoughts and a touch of the naughty, drawn from jazz standards, popular songs, blues and soul. New Groove Jazz Ensemble(Big Band Jazz / Vocal Jazz) Band 6pm – 9pmThis 20-piece community big band is comprised of musicians who have the common goal of keeping big band music live in Brisbane and surrounding districts. Formed in 1996 under music director Ken Lincoln, the band features soloists and vocalists depicting big band music from the 20th Century to today. Their “In the Groove” CD series has been very popular, receiving wonderful accolades through ABC Radio.

The Andrews Sisters were the sweethearts of the armed forces radio service during WW2 entertaining troops around the world. The Rafael Karlen Quartet(Original Jazz) Band 7.30pm – 10pmFeaturing acclaimed musicians Rafael Karlen - composition/saxophone, Toby Wren - guitar, Andrew Shaw - bass and John Parker - drums, this quartet will lead you through an original blend of sensitive lyricism, exciting improvisation and captivating compositions. This will be Rafael’s first performance back in Brisbane after being awarded the prestigious 2018 Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers’ Residency in Sydney.

Keys For the City (BJC’s 46th Anniversary & Piano Art Union Draw)(Vocal Jazz / Piano Jazz) Music 6pm – 10pmThis BJC highlight for 2018, celebrates our 46th Anniversary and a piano spectacular, with a Kawai Concert Grand piano (worth $10,000) as first prize in our Art Union. Tickets cost $50 each until 8pm, with the draw at 9pm.

With two grand pianos on stage, the keyboards will be humming when your host, Alan Western introduces five popular jazz pianists - Paula Girvan, Red Lopez, Jake Bristow, Neil Gracie and Joquithe Manricks. Committee Member vocalists Di Clark, Irene McLeod, Jan Lennard and Naomi Doessel will all perform with our pianists as we fill the night with fun and song from the amazing voices and personalities of the Men About Town - featuring Alan Western, Peter Vance, Duncan Read and the FourTunes Quartet.
