DAY 1 - Private Istanbul Old City Tour - (L)

Pick up from cruise port or your hotel in the Old City/Taksim area. On this full day tour, visit the 'old city' where theByzantine and Ottoman Empires ruled. See Hagia Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture, which wasconstructed as a basilica in the 6thC by Emperor Justinian. Look around the inside and outside of the Blue Mosque,famous for its blue Iznik tiles and unique with 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet. Explore theHippodrome, the centre of sporting (chariot races, athletics) events and political activities of the old city. Visit theTurkish and Islamic Arts Museum. Housed in a 500 year old palace (which was home to a Grand Vizier of Suleymanthe Magnificent), this museum contains fabulous examples of Islamic calligraphy, tiles and rugs; as well as somegreat ethnographic displays on nomad cultures in Turkey.

After lunch, visit Topkapi Palace, the residence of Ottoman Sultans. See the imperial treasury, sacred Islamic relics,palace kitchens, Chinese porcelain, weapons, calligraphy and more. (Visit of the Harem is not included in theprogram). Finish up at the Grand Bazaar, the most attractive shopping centre and the biggest 'souk' in the worldwith nearly 4000 shops selling antique, jewellery, gold, carpets, leatherwear and souvenirs.

Note that the Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays. St. Sophia is cloded on Mondays. Topkapi Palace is closed onTuesdays.

Customers who are arriving to Istanbul cruise port will be picked up by our tour guide and take a tram to the OldCity (takes about 7 minutes). This is the fastest and easiest way to get to the Old City from the cruise port.
