Beginning on March 9, 2020, a new street parking area, identified as zone 50, will be reserved for Pointe-Claire residents around the Cedar Park, Pointe-Claire and Valois train stations.

This initiative aims to control access to street parking for Pointe-Claire citizens who use public transit, in anticipation of the March 31, 2020, closure planned for the Mont-Royal rail tunnel as part of the work to develop the Réseau express métropolitain (REM).

This tunnel is currently used by commuter trains on the Deux-Montagnes and Mascouche lines, which means that beginning in April, thousands of users will have to find an alternative means of transport, and may use Pointe-Claire train stations.

Accordingly, parking permits will be required and issued as of February 10, 2020.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

I live in zone 50. Can I get a temporary permit for my visitors? No temporary visitor permits will be issued. In such a case, it is recommended that you give your private parking space to your visitors and park your vehicle that has a permit on the street.

Are the new parking rules in effect on statutory holidays? They are in effect at all times, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

I already have a permit for another street parking zone in Pointe-Claire and I need a permit for zone 50. What should I do?

Go to the Inspection – Public Security office (399 Saint-Jean Boulevard) with your driver’s licence and registration to obtain your new permit at a cost of $20, which will include both zones.
