To.this.base.a.number.of.adjustments.are.made,.for.example:
There.is.an.option.of.either.taking.a.standard.deduction.or.itemizing...With.the.exception.of.Iowa.income.tax,.the.itemized.deductions.allowed.for.federal.tax.purposes.are.allowable.on.the.Iowa.income.tax.return...For.income earned in 2009, the standard deduction for taxpayers filing as unmarried head of household, qualifying widower and married filing jointly is $4,390.
