1. Overview

1.1. What’s New on this Version

(1) Instruct to download new color matching table. Refer to section 3. This color matching table will bedownloaded in the printer HDD.

(2) Newly paper tray to use for each custom media has been specified. Refer to section 2.(3) Newly media loading amount in paper tray is specified for a certain media. Refer to section 2.(4) Newly user-friendly media type names are implemented in printer driver. Those names are listed in section 2.(5) Media type to use for Card Stock has changed to Ultra Heavy, not Custom 3.(6) Troubleshooting is added. Refer to section 9.

2.1. Feeding Orientation

The orientation of media in the Multi-Purpose Tray must match the media size and orientation in the printer frontpanel menu.When actual media is set to long edge feeding orientation, printer menu must be set as below. Otherwise 90degree rotated page will be printed. Normal paper tray can detect orientation automatically.This menu is available under MEDIA MENU in the printer front panel.

Normal paper tray, such as tray-1, detects paper size and orientation automatically. You don’t need to worry aboutsetting menu.

3. Printer Settings

3.1. Downloading Custom Color Matching Table

OKI has developed custom color matching tables for Anheuser Busch. There are two custom tables : one fortransparencies only; and one for all other media. These tables have to be downloaded to the printer’s HDD.Once they are downloaded, they stay permanently in the printer’s HDD even when the printer is turned off.

3.1.1. How to download custom color matching table to printer using the DPRINT utility

− Run the DPRINT.exe utility, and select the printer driver associated with the target printer.− Select “Custom Color Profile v.2 for Anheuser Busch (Plain Paper)”, and click “Download”.− Select “Custom Color Profile v.2 for Anheuser Busch (Transparency)”, and click “Download”.

NOTE : Don’t worry if you download tables more than once. Newly downloaded tables simply overwrite existingones.

3.1.2. How to confirm that the custom print parameter has been copied in printer

− In the printer menu, press MENU until you see INFORMATION MENU.− Press ITEM until you see PRINT FILE LIST / EXECUTE− Press SELECT to print file list.− You should see the lines below on the sheet.

4. Application Settings (Corel Draw 8)

In the print dialog on the PostScript Tab, make sure that the options highlighted in red below are set as shown.(default settings)

On the Miscellaneous tab, make sure that the option highlighted in red below is set as shown. (default settings)



Click “Set Properties …” on the Miscellaneous tab.The Color Profiles dialog appears.Make sure that the option highlighted in red is set as shown.

If the above profile is not available to your system, or if you don't want to use that profile, the alternative is :

On the Misc tab, make sure that the options highlighted in red below are set as shown. (default settings)

7. Printer Driver Settings (Windows 98)

In the print dialog, on the General tab, if youclick Properties, the dialog shown appears.When you print on special media, "Stacker (Faceup)" must be selected as shown.Click “Apply”.

NOTE : Make sure to open the printer’s face-upstacker door when "Stacker (Face-up)" is used.The door doesn’t open automatically.

When you print on special media, refer to Section2, “Recommended Settings for Custom Media”.Each custom media has a recommended papertray to use.Select the specified paper tray.Select the right Media Type as specified inSection 2.

NOTE : Some media types cannot be selectedunless “Stacker (Face-up)” is selected on the JobOptions tab.

Make sure that "Media Check" is cleared.This dialog appears when you click "Paper FeedOptions …" on the Setup tab.If this option is checked, printer may show MediaType Mismatch on the LCD display.



On the Color tab, the settings shown are OKI'srecommendation for the driver's default.Custom color matching for Anheuser Busch isselected as default.

The “AB Custom” color simulation is designed toprint Budweiser red as accurately as possible.If other red tones are not vivid enough, try settingColor Simulation to “None”.



8. Printer Driver Settings (Windows 2000)

In the print dialog, on the General tab, if youclick Properties, the dialog shown appears.When you print on special media, "Stacker(Face up)" must be selected as shown.

NOTE : Make sure to open the printer’s face-up stacker door when "Stacker (Face-up)" isused. The door doesn’t open automatically.

When you print on special media, refer toSection 2, “Settings for Custom Media”.

Switch to the “Print/Quality” tab.Each custom media has a recommended papertray to use.Select the specified paper tray.



Click Advanced. The dialog appears as shown.When you print on special media, refer to 2, “Settingsfor Custom Media”.Select the right Media Type as specified in Section 2.

NOTE : Some media types cannot be selected unless“Stacker (Face-up)” is selected on the Job Options tab.

Make sure that "Media Check" is set to Off.If this option is set to On, printer may show Media TypeMismatch on the LCD display.



On the Color tab, the settings shown areOKI's recommendations for the driver'sdefault.Custom color matching for Anheuser Buschis selected as default.

The “AB Custom” color simulation isdesigned to print Budweiser red asaccurately as possible. If other red tones arenot vivid enough, try setting ColorSimulation to “None”.



9. Trouble shooting

9.1. Paper Jam at Multi Purpose Tray (390 : PAPER JAM)

Phenomenon

Printer LCD display shows “CHECK MPTRAY / 390:PAPER JAM”.

Potential cause

Paper dust has accumulated on the roller. Paper feeding ability is degraded.

Suggested action

Using a tooth brush as shown.Cut the bristles to 5mm (1/5 inch) long.

Brush the MP Tray roller surface about 5 times to remove paper dust.

Rotate the roller with your fingertip, and brush the roller again.Repeat this process until the entire roller surface is cleaned.

When you finish, verify that the roller surface is clean.

Remove any fallen paper dust with adhesive tape.
