From the Principal Could I offer a big thank you to all the parents who came along to support our school production of Cats last week. The students were fantastic but having an appreciative audience made it really special for them. Also thanks to all the parents who helped with make-up, loaning the video camera, making tails and generally giving your help and support, all very much appreciated. Finally, thanks from myself to all the teachers for their help, especially Justin Fletcher for his terrific contribution with the music, Odessa Brown for the set and props, Shane Rayfield for the set and lighting and Heather Currie from Belridge Secondary College for her choreography. PRINCIPAL 2019 Just to keep you informed of the process. I am a member of the panel selecting a new principal for us and last week we picked candidates for interview from the applicants. This Tuesday we had interviews and selected the recommended applicant (Principal). This has to go through a process and when that is finished we can announce who has won the position of Principal of Springfield Primary School. This should take about two weeks. As soon as I can, I will let you know the result. KINDY 2019 On Thursday this week we will be having a meeting for parents of Kindy students for 2019, plus any new PP students, in the Library at 2-00pm. We will be giving information about the arrangements for Kindy in 2019 as well as a short tour of the Early Childhood Centre. If you know of any Kindy children who have not enrolled, could you please ask them to contact school asap. BEACH SWIMMING Our year 6 students will be having their in-term swimming at Sorrento Beach again this year starting on Monday. This is a great opportunity for them to experience the ocean under expert teachers and develop their water skills. Just a reminder that parents will need to drop the students at Sorrento Beach for their lesson each day and we have transport to bring them back to school. A note went home this week regarding this. AREA 3 ASSEMBLY Come along to see Area 3’s assembly this Friday. It promises to be lots of fun and it is a prelude to our visit from the Mucky Duck Bush Band on Friday 23rd November.
