PRINCIPLES OF PHOTOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT

Simplicity.

These photos are a good example of “Simplicity” because there are no distractions in the back ground. The only thing you’re being drawn to is the flower and the flag.

Framing.

These photos represent framing because the door as well as window frames are what is “framing” Sam. Drawing your attention to was is “inside” the frame.

Rule of Thirds.These photos of Kyles eyes represent “Rule of Thirds” because in the top photo his left eye is in the right corner of the grid.

And in this photo his right eye is in the bottom left corner of the grid. Showing the rule of thirds

Leading Lines.

These two photos demonstrate “Leading Lines” because in the first photo the line or the railing of the stair case is leading to the subject.

Balance.

These two photos represent balance because both sides in both photos are considered “equal.” The first photo Sam and Kyle are sitting with relatively the same amount of space between them and the ends of the picture. As for the second Sam is sitting in the middle of the frame making the picture “balanced.”

Avoiding Mergers.In this photo I’ve avoided mergers by taking a picture of where Mowie had nothing behind him. If there’s nothing behind him there is no chance of anyting “Merging.”

In this photo I simply zoomed up on Sam to make sure that there was no awkwardly placed items in the back that would cause merging.

Not so great part one.This photo I thought was a good photo when I first took it, but I noticed after that it wasn’t quite as straight as it could’ve been. I always hold my camera on an awkward angle when trying to take pictures.

But to improve this photo I lightened it a bit to bring out some more colour as well as used the straightening tool to make it look straighter than the first photo.

Part two.

With this first photo I was trying to capture the city life just as it was going to “sleep.”

So I edited just the lighting to make the buildings silhouettes instead of grey looking things.
