Line
6
The so' curved flowing lines of the curtains can help make any southern home pleasant to view. Smooth
flowing lines can bring a sense relief and so'ness to any room. Curved flowing lines, such as what is seen in the curtains above, can help eliminate the harshness of too many straight lines. You can also find curved flowing lines in spiral or curved staircases, in the lines of a rug,
etc.
Curved lines can not only be found in items such as curtains, they can also be seen in indoor trees and
plants

Do you want to add excitement to your southern home? Add Eghtly curved lines to any area to turn a boring room into an exciEng one. Tightly curved lines are most commonly found texEles and in wall and floor coverings. An area rug is a perfect example of Eghtly curved lines while also aestheEcally enhancing a room…
BUT a room may lose its harmony if to many bold colors or paIerns are added to a room or area.

Texture
The brick of the historic downtown is classic in many southern areas. It shows Emeliness. Brick has both physical and visual texture. The texture of the brick shows off a typical casual historic downtown which creates a friendly and inviEng atmosphere.
Brick adds a warm feel to a home or building and can be visually pleasing especially during fall and winter months
9
ReflecEve texture can be found in many objects that have a glassy appearance. The above vase is a perfect example of reflecEve texture. Vases like that look especially good in a southern home around the fall/winter holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Texture
10
The couch appears to have texture, however it is an allusion. The paIern on the couch is a great example of implied texture. Chairs like this would be nice in a study room, or
placed in a large bedroom.
11
Non reflecEve texture can be found anywhere. As seen in the picture frame the sequins add delighRul texture. The picture frame texture can be visually read or physically felt.
When considering texture in other objects keep in mind upkeep. For easy upkeep and very liIle dirt choose light-‐colored, rough textures.
