presenting of special Education Week awards for three students from each class. The band will be showcasing its talent and students will be visiting the museum during the week - Stage 1 on Wednesday and Stage 2&3 on Thursday. Parents are welcome to join us. We would like to thank the museum staff for their kindness in opening the Museum to the school for two days. Mr Katte has had students showcase their computer skills and put together some short powerpoint presentations about the history of the school. These will be viewed on Thursday. Thank you Mr Katte and our very clever students.
Generations at our school A big thank you for the response! We have had great response to our request for 3rd and 4th Generation families who have attended Nambucca Primary. This is why we have such a proud tradition at our school so many of our families have had a connection with the school for many years. We are hoping that some of the family listed on the generation request forms will be available to attend our special assembly. We would be happy for not just the present student but parents and grandparents if able, to come and

collect the special generational certificate on Thursday at the assembly. So when the family name is called, please come up onto the stage and collect the certificate, I’m sure the children will be very excited to share the stage with family members. We’d love to get some photos to include in our Year Book this year. See the list of families in this newsletter.
Valley 10 Education Week Awards ceremony Parents and friends are invited to the Valley 10 Education Week awards at Macksville High School. The presentations will be in the school hall to start at 5pm with finger food. This year our school has selected Mr Roger Goddard, Mrs Julia White, the PBL Team and the School Captains to receive our school’s awards.
What a fantastic Athletics Carnival The weather could not have been more perfect. Sometimes we are just lucky with the weather! A big thank you to Mr Katte for his organization and the staff for their assistance on the day. Of note for me on the day was the great sportsmanship that I saw. How a second place getter shook the hand of the winner in congratulations. Well done everyone. Our best wishes to the students competing at the District Carnival on Friday.
Education Week quiz I keep being asked by the students if we can have another Quiz for Funny Money that can be spent at the canteen. So to
celebrate Education week and the opening of the capsule I have photographed the capsule in a location in the school. Fill in the answer sheet nominating where you think I took the photo and be in the draw for some Funny Money. Good luck!
National Literacy and Numeracy Week This week is National Literacy and Numeracy Week. National Literacy and Numeracy Week is a week to highlight the importance of literacy and numeracy skills for all children and young people, with a specific focus on school-aged children. I have included a link that has lots of ideas and websites for students to visit. http://www.nlnw.nsw.edu.au/kids.htm Morelle Makinson Relieving Principal

SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2013
State Touch Football Trials The State Boys Touch Football Carnival was held in Coffs Harbour last week . Isaac Jones represented our school at this carnival as a member of the North Coast Team. His team just missed out on the final losing 2-1 to the South Coast Team. Well done Isaac.
School Athletics Carnival The school athletics carnival was held last Friday 26th July at the EJ Biffin Fields. Many people commented on the great sportsmanship shown by the children on the day. At the end of many events the competitors shook hands and congratulated each other. Well done to all the children who competed in events on the day. It is also good to hear kids saying I`ve been in every event. The District Carnival is this Friday 2nd August. Children who came 1st or 2nd in an event should have received a note with a list of the events they are entered in. If you think you should be in an event see Mr Katte as soon as possible. Some children also qualified with a 3rd placing they have also received a note. These were mostly in the 100m and 800m. The 50m sprints for Stage 1 are not contested at the District Carnival. If the weather looks doubtful listen to 2CS on Friday. The back-up date is Friday 9th August. Thank you to the following people who volunteered to help on Friday. Les McMahon, Mark Sanders, Evan Parsons, Trevor Keast and Catherine Noonan Thank you to the P&C for the new shade shelters. We now have five shelters – one for each house and one for recording. Thank you to the Canteen ladies – Cathy McDonald, Narelle Wilson , Sandra Goodby and Claire Daniels.
