PARENTS AND FRIENDS NEWS

Welcome back everyone! Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year and some time off from the school routine! We will have a P & F meeting next Wednesday 11th February at 2:20pm in the meeting room where we will fill committee positions for this year. If you are interested in joining the committee or being involved with Parents and Friends, please come along. Committee positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. We also need someone or a few people to regularly collect and add up the IGA dockets that are at the office, which the school receives money from. We are also holding our Twilight Fair this year which requires lots of help from many people, so please come along to the meeting next week to find out more. Everyone welcome! Have a great week. PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF CHILDREN AROUND SCHOOLS For the safety of children, parents are reminded to take care and obey parking signs when picking up or dropping off children around schools. Council’s Parking and Information Officers regularly patrol school areas during start and finish times. Motorists detected breaching parking regulations risk being issued with a Penalty Infringement Notice. Remember, as soon as you stop to let your children in or out of the car, you are deemed to be parked. You do not have to leave your car or turn the engine off to be fined so please ensure you are parked in a legal parking area. At children’s crossings, you must remain stationary at the stop line while any person (including an adult or the supervisor) is on the crossing or the stop sign is displayed. Do not let your child alight at this time, ensure that they wait until you are safely and legally parked. If you breach a parking regulation the Parking and Infor-mation Officer assigned to monitor the crossing will usually record your registration number and details, and the Penalty Infringement Notice will be posted to you within the next three days.

EXTEND OSHC AT GROVEDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL Hello! My name is Hannah and I’m your new OSHC Leader. I have recently joined the Extend team and can-not wait to meet you all & have fun throughout the year. I am a primary teacher, but have taken time off to add to my family. I have 2 young daughters, a dog and a turtle. I spend my weekends with my girls at the cricket club where they watch their dad play. I love painting and drawing in my spare time & enjoy travelling overseas. RECAP: Last week we started the OSHC program for 2015. It has been a great start so far, with lots of new kids to join us in the coming weeks. Last week we got to know each other really well through some art and craft activities, and played tennis and cricket outside. The kids did a fabulous job with their identity hands, which are displayed on the front window of the OSHC room. Our Extend Superstar is… Leilani J for always using her manners and sharing with others. Next week’s activities: Monday 9 February: Animal Creations, Tuesday 10 February: Hanging Bugs, Wednesday 11 February: Spy Glass Habitats, Thursday 12 February: Jelly Making, Friday 13 February: Valentines Crafts. Enrolling is quick and easy! Simply set up your own account online via the Parent Portal. Please note it is government regulation that all children must be enrolled BEFORE attending an Extend service. For information on operating hours and fees for your school, visit your After School Care venue or school website. Enrol now, pay later. The annual enrolment fee per family of $20 is NOT payable until you first use the service. So why not enrol now so you can access the service later? It doesn't matter if you don't end up using the service, because you won't be charged. Watch this space throughout the term for regular updates from our Extend team! PARENT PORTAL: extend.com.au
