What another AWESOME week here at Broken Hill Public as we continue to inspire, show integrity

I will be out of the school this Thursday and Friday attending meetings in Sydney. If you need to see
me, I will be back in the school on Monday, or you may contact our Assistant Principals, Mr
Thomas or Mrs Podnar.

Congratulations and we look forward to continuing the terrific work and commitment our P&C

Clean Up Australia Day
This Friday, 28th February, the children will be involved in Clean Up Australia Day activities. The SRC
and Environmental Club have arranged for the school to do its part by tidying up the grounds.
Family Information Meetings
Thank you to all the families who attended the class information afternoons. It was great to see so
many sharing in their children’s learning.
Scripture
Welcome to a new school year!
We hope 2020 will be a great year for your child’s educational, social, physical and spiritual
development.
The SRE team (Christian SRE, which stands for Special Religious Education) at Central PS is looking
forward to getting to know your child/ren and having the opportunity to teach them SRE and help
develop them spiritually.
Our team is made up of Christians from different local churches and are passionate about giving
your child the opportunity to learn about themselves, life, God and the world from the Bible. We
create an environment where they can ask questions and get answers about a wide range of life
issues. The flyer included in this newsletter shows you the benefits of your child attending SRE
classes. There are also some extra information pamphlets for families in the school foyer for you to
read.
SRE runs for 30 minutes every week. The classes are divided into 4 age groups with usually 2
teachers for each class.
Please feel free to contact the school (who will in turn contact us if necessary) about any
concerns or questions you may have. It is not compulsory and you can withdraw your child but it
must be in writing to the school. Non-SRE kids are given a supervised space to do other school
work for the duration of SRE classes. Non-SRE students can rejoin scripture classes at any time with
written permission.
On behalf of the SRE Team,
Kylie Letcher (SRE Coordinator)
