It has been an amazing start to the 2016-17 Enrichment year.
Quarter 2 started on October 24th with many new and exciting classes including Intro to Guitar, Drumming, Intro to Acting, Dance Team and Art Exploration, First Lego League Challenge and many more…. Save the Date: The Enrichment Showcase will be December 14, 2016- 5-7pm!
If you have questions or comments, please contact Tracey Brummett, Enrichment Coordinator at [email protected]. We welcome any new ideas or any contributions of help in enrichment classes from families and community members.
Please join us for Lunch Bunch with the Principal on November 11th at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. Parents have an opportunity to eat lunch with the principal and learn about our academic programming. Please RSVP by calling Paz or Evelyn in the main office.

Nothing but good things are happening in the library at Kepner Beacon Middle School! More graphic novels just came in and the students are checking them out...no pun intended. We are still waiting for our ebooks to arrive. In the meantime, we have a little product called “playaway.” Playaway is a book or device that looks like a “walkman.” If you’re still not sure, well, just swing on by the library and I’ll show you. I think I just gave away my age by saying “walkman.” Anywho, please be on the lookout for new and exciting things coming to the KBMS Library. Cheers!

ELO UPDATE BY MS. BRUMMETT
Quarter 2 for Enrichments started on October 24 with new classes and new energy - One new stem class is Global Inventor’s a collaboration with Level Up Village an international organization that helps connect our students to students in Ecuador to help solve a real life issue using our new 3-D printer, Intro to Acting, Dance and more. Our First Lego League Team competed on November 5 and came in 19 out of 28 teams. Great first year for our Dolphin FLL Team!. We are always looking for new ideas and creative talents to join our Enrichment Team. If you have an idea or you would like to teach, please contact [email protected].
Late Fall sports are underway at Kepner Beacon MS. Mr. Elston is coaching the girls volleyball team and they will compete in a tournament at McAuliffe International School on Saturday, November 12 at 9:00 am. Mr. Lashley is our flag football coach and his team will also be competing in a tournament at McAuliffe International School on Saturday, November 12 at 9:00 am. Both teams have been practicing and are excited to show their stuff in the tournament! Our Rapids Soccer Team won their first game on Saturday, October 22. The soccer season will continue until the middle of November and hopefully the warm weather will continue until the end of the season!

Thank you to all of the families that attended student-led conferences! Please continue checking your child’s grades on EngradePro.com and ensure they are completing their reading and math homework every night!
Students will take their next interim tests Nov. 15 (literacy), and Nov. 16 (math). We are excited to see their growth from the start of the year!
Our first field trip will be Dec. 20 and 21 to International Towne. If you have not returned the permission slip and $5.00 to pay for the trip, please have your child give these two items to Mr. Queen!

This month was an incredibly special time for our school community as we honored five students who exemplify our five character traits. Every quarter teachers choose one student for each character trait who exceeds our expectations of that specific trait. Below are our five student character trait winners for this quarter!

This quarter we also celebrated all of our students by hosting our first social - The Fall Bash! Students who earned a character trait average (CPA) of 2.6 or above earned the entire social. The social consisted of fun activities such as a dance, face painting, soccer, board games, a wii, karaoke, a jumpy castle and much more! Students left on Thursday with huge smiles on their faces!

Gracias a todas las familias que asistieron a conferencias dirigidas por los estudiantes! Por favor, continúe revisando las calificaciones de sus hijos en EngradePro.com y asegúrese de que están completando sus tareas de lectura y matemáticas todas las noches.
Los estudiantes tomarán sus próximas pruebas provisionales el 15 de noviembre (alfabetización) y el 16 de noviembre (matemáticas)! Estamos muy contentos de ver su crecimiento desde el comienzo del año!

Este mes fue un momento increíblemente especial para nuestra comunidad escolar, ya que honramos a cinco estudiantes que ejemplifican nuestros rasgos de carácter. Cada trimestre, los maestros eligen a un estudiante por cada rasgo de carácter que supera nuestras expectativas de ese rasgo específico. ¡Abajo están nuestros ganadores de rasgos de carácter para este trimestre!

Este trimestre también celebramos a todos nuestros estudiantes con nuestro primer evento social - The Fall Bash! Los estudiantes que obtuvieron un promedio de rasgo de carácter (CPA) de 2.6 o superior ganaron todo el tiempo de social. El social consistió con actividades divertidas tales como un baile, pintura de la cara, fútbol, juegos de mesa, un wii, karaoke, un castillo brinca brinca y mucho más! Los estudiantes salieron el jueves con grandes sonrisas en sus rostros!

Nada más que cosas buenas están sucediendo en la biblioteca de la Escuela Kepner Beacon MS! El resto de novelas gráficas acaban de llegar y los estudiantes ya están adquiriendo los libros. Todavía estamos esperando a nuestros libros electrónicos que entran en juego. Mientras tanto, tenemos un pequeño producto llamado “playaway.” Playaway es un libro en el dispositivo que se parece a un “walkman”. Si aún no está seguro, llegue a la biblioteca y te voy a mostrar. ELO UPDATE BY MS. BRUMMETT
2do.Cuarto de enriquecimientos comenzó el 24 de octubre con nuevas clases y nueva clase de energía nueva y Colaboración Global de Inventor con alto nivel de aldea de una organización internacional que ayuda a conectar a nuestros estudiantes a los estudiantes en Ecuador para ayudar a resolver problemas de la vida real usando nuestra nueva impresora 3D, introducción a la actuación, baile y mucho más.La primera liga de Lego competirán en 19 de noviembre de 2016, más información en www.coloradofirst.org. Siempre estamos buscando nuevas ideas y talentos creativos para unirse a nuestro equipo de enriquecimiento. Si tienes una idea o gustaría enseñar, por favor póngase en contacto con [email protected]
Los deportes del otoño se están llevando a cabo en Kepner Beacon MS. El Sr. Elston está entrenando el equipo femenino de voleibol que competirá en un torneo en la Escuela Internacional de McAuliff
El Sábado 12 de noviembre a las 9:00 am. El Sr. Lashley es nuestro entrenador de fútbol americano y también estará compitiendo en un torneo en la Escuela Internacional McAuliffe, el sábado 12 de noviembre a las 9:00 am. Ambos equipos han estado practicando duro y son muy contentos de mostrar sus labores en el torneo! Nuestros Rapids, equipo de fútbol, ganaron su primer partido el 22 de octubre. La temporada de fútbol continuará hasta mediados de Noviembre y esperamos que el clima continuará hasta el final de la temporada!

Ha sido un comienzo sorprendente para el año 2016-17 enriquecimiento.
El 2do Trimestre empezo el 24 de octubre con muchas clases nuevas y emocionantes incluyendo Introducción a Guitarra, Tambores, Introducción e Actuación, Grupo de Danza y Arte Exploración, First Lego League Challenge y muchos más .... Guarde la Fecha: El Showcase de Enriquecimiento será el 14 de diciembre de 2016- 5-7pm!
