Reading

When we finished, we still had 82 pages of Wonder left to read. I am going to set an amount each day, so that it is finished before our official Easter holidays begin at the end of next week. Please read pages 228-238 today (if you haven’t already read them).

I can see from readtheory.org yesterday that 9 of you logged on and set yourself new levels. Well done, particularly to Toby and Harvey, who completed 5 and 7 tests respectively. House point to each of you when we get back to school. Remind me!

Handwriting - Today’s handwriting is particularly focusing on numbers, maths symbols and punctuation marks, especially commas. You need to be able to write numbers correctly and quickly.

Add 5 more verses to the Michael Rosen poem you copied out yesterday. Have a look at the rhyming pattern that I have highlighted, then think up names and words that rhyme with names.

Make a list of more names than you will need and then pick the best 5 pairs of names and rhymes for your new version of the poem.

How many pencils will each class receive? 3. A man ran 98 miles in 1764 minutes. On average, how long does it take him to run a mile? 4. A toy factory produces 1984 toys a day. There are 31 machines making the toys. How many toys does each machine produce? 5. There are 1710 pupils in 45 classes in Smithdown Primary School. On average, how many pupils are in each class?6. A lorry contains 8316 sweets. A bag of sweets contains 42 sweets. How many bags of sweets are there? 7. A local football club’s full attendance equals 6368 people. 8. A local charity has raised £7850. They want to share this money between 25 good causes. How much will each of the good causes receive? 9. A cinema, when full, holds 6572 people. If 53 people can sit in each row, how many rows are there? 10. After selling all of his grapefruits, a greengrocer’s takings are £89.10. Each grapefruit costs 54p. How many grapefruits did he sell?

Art - I would love you to try sketching the scene from your window where you are working. You need to draw the window frame first so that you have the scale of the view, then pick a focal point within the view. This is something your eye is drawn to. Start with sketching that in position, then the rest of the view.

Finally - do something nice for someone else in your family today. Make mum a cup of tea, make your bed, do some tidying.
