BACKGROUND INFORMATION• EBOLA is a very serious virus. In 2014–2016 there was an
outbreak in Sierra Leone. Many people died. Schools were closed to stop the virus from spreading.
• CARL is an organisation that Trócaire works with in Sierra Leone. They give school bags and books to children who were affected by the mudslide. CARL also helps parents who lost their tools and working equipment in the mudslide.
Instructions• Each player puts their counter in the
place that says ‘Start Here’.
• Take it in turns to roll the dice.
• Move your counter along the board and if you land on a square with writing, read it out loud and follow the instruction.
• You can only fi nish the game when the dice number matches the amount of spaces you have left.
Discuss after the game• What things slowed
down your education journey through primary school?
• What things helped you through primary school?
• Is this example of a journey through primary school in Sierra Leone similar to education journeys through primary school in Ireland?
