Analysis of Survey Monkey Results• From the research I have gathered from my survey, I have found that most people would expect to pay roughly

£1 - £4 for a music magazine on average. Therefore I shouldn’t be charging any less than £1 and any more than about £4 for my magazine.

• I have also discovered that apart from the people who said that they never read magazines (in a month), most other people normally read magazines monthly which tells me that it is best to have a monthly issue of my magazine instead of weekly or daily.

• When I asked people what they would typically expect to see on the front cover of an eclectic music magazine, most people stated that they would expect to see a photograph of a popular, new artist/band which therefore means that I should include someone based on a popular artist for my front cover.

• The thing that stands out to most people who answered my survey when they look at a magazine is the image. This therefore tells me that I need an eye-catching image on the front cover of my own music magazine.

• I asked what would persuade people to buy an eclectic music magazine and I gave the options of the main image on the front cover, the cover lines, contests to enter/win and promotions/things that come with the magazine. The two most popular answers were the image on the front cover and the promotions/things that come with the magazine, however the cover lines and contests to enter/win were also popular choices. So, this therefore tells me that I need to consider all of these things when producing my magazine.

• The next question I asked was ‘What is your favourite music genre out of the following?’ and out of all of the options, R&B was the most popular, following on with Pop, Eclectic, Hip Hop and Other. Considering the fact that Eclectic does cover a wide range of music, I think that most readers would be satisfied with the music that would be featured in my magazine.

• Most people who answered whether they think ‘Star Appeal’ (Richard Dyer) is important for the front cover of a music magazine thought that it was important. This means that when creating my magazine, I should make sure I include images of popular artists/bands that my readers would like.

• Lastly, I asked what the people’s favourite music magazine was out of Q, NME, We Love Pop, Vibe, Billboard, MOJO, Rolling Stone or any other. The two most popular choices were Q and Billboard. This is good because my magazine is inspired by Q magazine so therefore a lot of people will be attracted to my own magazine.

Questionnaire Results Breakdown• From my questionnaire results, I can see that the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire

would roughly expect to pay £3-4 for a music magazine on average which tells me that I should charge around that price range for my music magazine.

• The majority said that they read music magazines about once a month, therefore meaning that I should make my magazine monthly instead of weekly/daily.

• Most people who answered said that they would expect to see a popular artist/band on the cover of an eclectic music magazine and that the main image and cover lines stand out to them the most. Therefore, I need to make sure that I take a good photo of someone based on a popular artist/band and make sure my cover lines are interesting to attract more readers.

• I asked what kind things would persuade someone to buy an eclectic music magazine and most people answered that the main image on the front cover and the cover lines, so this means that I should focus on these things the most in order to attract an audience of readers.

• I also asked what people’s favourite music genre is out of Pop, Eclectic, R&B, Hip Hop, Indie/Alternate, Classical or another of their choice and the most popular genre was eclectic, meaning that they like a wide range of music. This tells me that I should make the genre of my music magazine eclectic so it will cover a wide range of different, popular music.

• Another question asked was ‘Do you think ‘Star Appeal’ (Richard Dyer) is important for the front cover of a music magazine? If so, why?’ Most people said yes and said this was because it is appealing and attracts people to read the magazine. Therefore, I should make sure that I use ‘Star Appeal’ (Richard Dyer) for my magazine with a popular artist/band to appeal to a wide range of people.

• The last question I asked was ‘What is your favourite music magazine out of the following?’ and the options were Q, NME, We Love Pop, Kerrang!, XXL, Vibe, Billboard, MOJO, Rolling Stone, and another of their choice. The most popular choice was Q so this means that I should base my music magazine on Q as it is the mot popular one and will appeal to a wide audience.
