Reading passage
It was the Marching Band Festival this afternoon. Tom wrote a diary
entry about it.
20th December 201X
[1] Today was an unforgettable day. It was the competition day of the
Marching Band Festival. A lot of bands took part in the competition this year.
There were also bands from Beijing, Nanjing and Malaysia. They were all
amazing.
[2] There were three divisions in the competition. They were parade
competitions for primary schools, secondary schools and other groups.
Our band joined the parade competition for primary schools. We played
four songs. In the end, we got second place in the division. Everyone was
overjoyed.
[3] After the competition, there was a mass band performance. All the
bands played some famous songs together. The members of the visiting
bands were very friendly. They prepared souvenirs and cards for us. They

[4] It’s the last day of the festival tomorrow. All bands will perform in an
open concert. I’ll see my new friends again there. I want to give them some
gifts. I hope they’ll like my gifts.
