Metis d.d. is a joint stock company for collecting, recycling and selling waste products.Metis d.d. has been operating continuously since 1948 in Primorsko– Goranska, Istarska,

Karlovačka and Ličko -senjska counties. It has recorded constant growth in all segments of its operations.

In addition to its ecological awareness, Metis d.d. is a socially sensitive company both toward its employees and partners and toward the local community.

In our facilities collected waste is sorted with intention to separate useful waste. After processing the waste, raw materials are prepared to be returned to the market in the form of new products. Metis is one of the largest exporters in Croatia. Successful exports of raw materials to the markets of the European Union demonstrates the high quality of its products.

ISO STANDARDS

With the goal of improving and advancing our business and matching global standards we have conducted and received certification for the ISO Certificate: UNI EN ISO 9001;2000 HRN EN ISO 14001:2004 and international standard which defines the rules for the safety and protection of OHSAS 18001 which were issued by the world renowned company DET NORSKE VERITAS.

CONCESSIONS

Metis d.d. is the authorised concessionaire for collecting: end-of-life vehicles, waste tyres, dry cells, storage batteries and, waste oils, WEEE and packing waste (paper, cardboard and textile packaging), PET, glass, Al/Fe packaging material , PE foils, and waste material that contains asbestos

METIS AS COLLECTOR OF HAZARDOUS WASTE

On yearly bases Metis collect around 10 000 t of hazardous waste:Old cars, electronics, battery, paint, glues, fat, contaminated packages, solvents, chemicals, acids, oily water, sludges, oily filters, arsorbents, contaminated wood and similar waste

Metis is direct exporter of hazardous wasteevery year we prepare and export around 800 T of hazardous waste to Austria for final treatment.

WORK WITH ALL INDUSTRIES

Advantage is that we take all non-hazardous and hazardous

waste from the waste producers (all companies in the shipbuilding industry, the automobile industry, marinas, pharmaceutical industry,

utility companies, car services and other) regardless of what ever it is a high value or low

value.

We offer full service to our suppliers which is why we have a competitive advantage compared to our competition and because of that we can manage with all industrial and household waste in four

counties that we work.

We take the waste directly from primar producers where we set up our equipment for disposal and transport it with our own transport means.

Sorting and processing we do in our plants from which secondary raw materials shipped to buyers in Croatia, Europe and worldwide.

Working together with city utility companies we are collecting and sorting waste of 90% of all companies in our area.

PRODUCTION

CENTER FOR WASTE PACKAGING MANAGEMENT

After satisfying the strictest criteria, Metis d.d. has become a Center for Waste Packaging Management in cooperation with the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. The Center carries out activities for collecting, numbering, documenting, managing a database for compacting, baling, and storing waste packaging in the areas of Primorsko–Goranska, Lika–Senj and Istria County and the counties that border on it. The waste is shipped to an authorized entity for disposal and recycling of waste packaging.

ENVIROMENTAL AWARENESS AT AN EARLY AGE

Over 40 years we carried projects by collecting the papers on kindergartens and schools to help children learn how to preserve

nature at an early age.

COLLECTED QUANTITIES OF MATERIALS

The collected quantities of materials on an annual basis: Metal scrap: 43.200,00 tons Paper: 23.500,00 tons

Ferrous metals: 5.800,00 tons Plastic: 5.000,00 tons

Exports to China (from 2012 until today):

Metis provides counseling services on preparing the necessary documentation and on adapting the business operations of a company to the strict criteria of environmental protection.

The goal of this service is to educate and to offer our experience in handling toxic and non-toxic waste in order for companies to meet the requirements of the Law on Environmental Protection and

the Law on Waste Management.

ECO-CONSULTING

The Department for Ecological Services is oriented to small shops and companies. Every legal entity is responsible for carrying out its business operations in accordance with the applicable laws.

One of the other activities of Metis d.d. is to supply its partners with complete protective work clothing. The products that Metis d.d. offers have all of the appropriate certifications. The materials are acquired from prominent domestic producers. The work clothing is sewn according to all of the standards prescribed by law for specific jobs.

SHIP RECYCLING IN SHIPYARD VIKTOR LENAC In accordance with the plan for developing and advancing its activities including increasing turnover and revenue from the sale of metal and other raw materials, Metis d.d. intends to use the offshore section of the BRODOGRADLIŠTE VIKTOR LENAC commercial premises amounting to a total area app 60,000 m2, carry out the required investments and equipping of the commercial premises, and obtain the necessary equipment for conducting the activities of ship deconstruction.

The other Metis facility in Rijeka of remains at its present location of Piopa.

BRANCH OFFICE PULAThe Pula branch office is situated on 17,000 m2 and employs 45 workers. Metis is planning to open two new branch offices in Istria at locations near Umag and Pazin. This will give it complete coverage of Istria County.

BRANCH OFFICE OGULINThis newly-remodeled facility covers 14,000 m2 and has 25 employees. In the last two years employment at this facility has grown by 100%, which has been a major contribution to reducing the rate of unemployment in Karlovac County. This facility specializes in the mechanical processing of electrical cables. After separation, all of the components – wires and insulation – are re-used.
